We were deeply impacted by the Overdose Awareness and Remembrance event last week, and carry forth what we learned and were inspired by. Written below are three quotes from Sadie's keynote speech; for those struggling with addiction, for the community at large, and for those who have lost someone to overdose.

πŸ’œ "Just consider the possibility that you don't know what the ending of your story is yet... You're still here, and your possibilities are limitless. While you're still here, there's still a possibility and there's still hope."

πŸ’œ "I just ask that you don't look at somebody in the hardest chapter of their life and decide that that you know who they're capable of becoming. Give them the time and support to discover who they can become. Time to recover. Time to heal trauma. Time to find another way to live with pain. Time to experience joy and discover what joy means. Time to pursue their dreams and time to build a life they never imagined possible."

πŸ’œ "Your loved ones life does not end with their death. You can carry their memory by creating the life and the world you wish they could have experienced. You can build more love, you can create more safety, you can pursue more joy, you can become more compassionate, you can help make sure that fewer people are lost."

We are so grateful for every organization and community member that made this event possible. CenterPointe Stop Overdose Nebraska Marvilee

πŸ’œ International Overdose Awareness Day | August 31 πŸ’œ

25 Years On. Still Needed.

Today, we remember the people whose lives have been lost to overdose and hold space for everyone whose lives have been changed by it. Every person has a story. Every life matters. And every loss reminds us why compassion, connection, harm reduction, and recovery support are still so deeply needed.

Today and every day, we can challenge stigma, lead with compassion, and create communities where people are seen, valued, and supported.
