Silver Star 63 member, Paul Crawford, passed away March 12th, at the age of 93. Paul had been a member since September of 1998, and served as an officer several times. He will be missed (his hugs were legendary). Paul is the father and father-in-law of members Mike and Audrey Crawford.

The parlor held its annual holiday dinner this week. Thank you to Grand Parlor officers Jeff Schmidt and Shane Simmons, and their guests, for attending. We also celebrated the parlor’s 140th Anniversary in 2025, and each member received a commemorative coffee cup at the dinner.

Today’s the day - July 4th! Start off your holiday with a delicious pancake breakfast held at the Lincoln Veterans Memorial Hall (conveniently on the parade route). Follow up with the parade, and then move to McBean Park for the rest of the day’s events.

The pancake breakfast is presented by Silver Star Parlor Native Sons of the Golden West and Placer Parlor Native Daughters of the Golden West for their scholarship funds, as well as supporting the Lincoln Area Archives Museum, and other programs.

The parade is presented by the Lincoln Area Chamber of Commerce and Rotary Club of Lincoln.

The rest of the day’s events are presented by the Lincoln 4th of July Foundation. Donarions are still needed and welcomed by going to its page. https://www.facebook.com/Lincoln4thOfJulyCelebration?mibextid=wwXIfr&mibextid=wwXIfr

Congratulations to the Lincoln High School 2025 graduating seniors who were awarded over $160,000 in scholarships at Monday evening’s awards night.

We especially congratulate the recipients of the Native Sons of the Golden West Silver Star Parlor #63 (Lincoln) scholarships - Johnny Isaura Garcia, Ali Abas Karimi, and Madison Street.

We also congratulate Cole McGuire who received the 2025 Larry Holian Memorial - Native Sons of the Golden West Silver Star Parlor #63 (Lincoln) Scholarship.

Larry Holian was a member of the NSGW for over 50 years. He transferred to our parlor late in his NSGW life, and was an active, engaged and welcome member. Since he passed away, his donation to the parlor has been used to fund this scholarship in his memory.

We thank our committee members David Lightfoot, Tina Varner, and Joleen Williams for reviewing the applications, and David for presenting the awards on the parlor’s behalf.

We also thank those who volunteer for, and those who attend, the annual 4th of July pancake breakfast, as the funds raised that day help fund the scholarships - in addition to other programs in which the parlor is involved.

Congratulations, again, to this year’s scholarship recipients.
