Hey everyone, Dana here!
Confession time: I’ve never run a chili cook‑off before, so yes… we’re totally winging it 😅. That means your questions, suggestions, and general chili wisdom are more than welcome — seriously, call me if you’ve got ideas!

A few quick notes:

Please bring at least 1–2 gallons of chili (the more you bring, the more people can taste… and vote for you 👀).

Keep it warm in a crockpot or plug‑in container.

Show up by 4 PM so we can get everyone set up.

Plan to hang out with your chili — chatting with tasters = more votes!

Don’t forget a list of ingredients (safety first, even in chili land).

We’ve got two categories: Best Overall Chili and Hottest Chili 🔥.
This is going to be fun, messy, and a learning experience for all of us — LOL, but isn’t that the best kind of event?

Looking for nine (or more) baseball players! The Lincoln County Historical Society is hosting a Vintage Base Ball Exhibition game against the Wichita's Cowtown team on Saturday, October 3, at Lincoln's West Ball Field as part of its Founder's Day celebration.

The 1 pm game will follow 1870's rules, so no gloves/cleats! Wichita is providing us uniforms, equipment and an umpire, so all we have to do is show up and play!

Please contact Terry at 785 524-6034 to get signed up to play for the Lincoln County Sodbusters. Ages 14 and up are welcome! Huzzah!

Other Founder's Day activities on Saturday include a chili cook-off, custom car cruise, and old-fashioned children's games at the Lincoln Museum.

Sunday’s schedule will include an 8 am guided bird-watching tour by Audubon of Kansas at the Achterberg Wildlife Farm. Mike Day will give a historical presentation at the Court House followed by a caravan to the Moffitt Massacre Site.
