Spring is celebrated by many cultures with ancient roots as a time of renewal, light, and the rebirth of nature. In Hinduism, Holi marks the arrival of spring with joyful colors, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil and the return of life after winter. The Yezidi people observe Çarşema Nisane—the third Wednesday of April—as one of their holiest days, honoring creation and the renewal of the earth. From India to Mesopotamia, these spring festivals reflect a deep, shared human connection to the rhythms of nature and the enduring power of hope.

For many members of YI, our first introduction to the Hindu community and its beautiful way of life came through a meeting with Sri Sri Shankar Ji. His presence left a lasting impression on us—awakening a deep curiosity and a sense of connection. We continue to remember his radiant energy, especially in the shadow of the dark days that began on August 3rd. His kindness and calm presence and respect was appreciated also when he visited Lalish Temple when others were in for elimination of Yezidism
