"Today is Women's Equality Day – a day celebrated in the US to commemorate the passing of the nineteenth amendment (aka granting women the right to vote). While the amendment was adopted in 1920, many women in the US still did not have the right to vote. Black, Indigenous and other groups of women who weren't white would not get the right to vote until decades later, despite Black women's heavy involvement in the suffrage movement. But it's still important to recognize that the pathway to all people being able to vote might not have happened without the nineteenth amendment". - from our friends at PBS
