It's not uncommon to notice your child's mood swings and social anxiety as they grow. You may be wondering how to know when they may be dealing with something more serious. Here are a few signs that may indicate your child could benefit from talking with a therapist:

• Acting up at home, at school, or while playing
• Feels bad about themselves
• Worries excessively about everything
• Has become withdrawn and doesn't want to be with friends or family
• Is unusually aggressive

Robin Hinrichs, LIMHP, LPC, LADC, NCC, is a licensed mental health practitioner who specializes in helping children. If you feel your child may need to talk with a professional, Robin is accepting new patients.

There are currently about 12 million people in the United States with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), a mental health condition. PTSD can only develop after you go through or see a life-threatening event. If it's been longer than one month and thoughts and feelings from the trauma are upsetting you or causing problems in your life, you may have PTSD.

Whether you or a loved one may be experiencing PTSD, there are treatments that can reduce PTSD symptoms and lead to a better quality of life. Our therapists are experienced in PTSD treatments.

Our clinic will be closed on Monday, May 25, in recognition of Memorial Day.

This day honors the service members who gave their lives for our country and those who continue to serve. Many return home with invisible wounds. If you or a loved one is experiencing PTSD, anxiety, or other mental health challenges, our therapists are here to help.

If you or a loved one is experiencing a mental health emergency and needs to talk to someone, please call or text the Crisis Hotline at 988.
