Growing Through Experience: Logan’s Youth Impact Journey
Logan recently received support through the Youth Impact Fund—and he put it to work right away.
Through the PNAA Winter Webinar Series, a four-part program covering alpaca ownership, fleece and conformation, daily care, and the alpaca lifestyle, Logan gained a stronger understanding of what it takes to be successful in the industry.
He walked away with practical insights, including:
• A clearer understanding of what judges look for in the halter ring
• While it might not be his favorite... p**p scooping is, in fact, just as important as his parents tell him it is.
• New ideas for getting more youth involved, including conversations around building 4-H and FFA alpaca programs
Logan continued building his knowledge at the TXOLAN Youth Clinic, where learning came to life in the show ring and beyond.
At the clinic, he:
• Explored fiber uses and quality with Buffy Bernard
• Learned how farm materials can be used in creative ways
• Shadowed ring stewards and experienced what it takes to run a show
Most importantly, Logan saw firsthand how judges evaluate conformation and fleece in the halter ring—bringing his earlier learning full circle.
One of his favorite moments? Creating a nesting ball during the fleece session and discovering new ways fiber can be used on the farm.
Programs like the Youth Impact Fund help young members like Logan build confidence, develop skills, and find their place in the alpaca community. One experience at a time.
