Johann Sebastian Bach wrote this mass over many decades, believing it to be a legacy piece, expressing the depth of his faith and the pinnacle of his composition. He never performed the work in his lifetime, but centuries of performances have proven the lasting impact of this miraculous work.

For the first time in its storied history, Abendmusik will offer a performance of Johann Sebastian Bach’s Mass in B minor -- arguably the most transcendent music yet composed. Tom Trenney leads sounding light, the Plymouth Choir, soloists, and the Abendmusik Orchestra in this profoundly moving work.

Dr. Pamela F. Starr, Professor Emerita, Music History in the Glenn Korff School of Music at UNL, will give a talk entitled “An extraordinary job application: explaining the quality and variety of J.S. Bach’s Mass in B minor” at 5:00 pm in Pilgrim Hall.

More than 300 high school students fill the Lied Center stage to perform Christopher Tin’s engaging and fun choral/orchestral masterpiece, The Drop That Contained the Sea. The massed choir, accompanied by the Lincoln Youth Symphony Orchestra will be directed by Cambodian-American conductor Darita Seth.
