The Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation was established in 2004 as a small family foundation, in loving memory of Gloria Gemma, two years after this wife and mother-of-nine lost her courageous fight against breast cancer. A devout woman, Gloria instilled in her children strong family values and the importance of helping people in need. Through their grief, Gloria’s children realized they needed to do something to help fight this horrific disease. They knew that more awareness, better education and increased funding for critical breast health programs could help women and men detect breast tumors earlier, ultimately saving lives.

Three days at Miraval Berkshires with some of our Gloria Gemma Thrivers, and we are coming home with a full heart. đź’—

Through our Gloria Gemma Annual Retreat, the Foundation created and provided this opportunity for our Thrivers to step away from everyday demands and focus on their wellbeing. Surrounded by the beauty of the Berkshires, we brought together support services, shared experiences, and a nurturing environment with space to slow down, breathe deeply, and receive care.

One of the most meaningful parts of this retreat is being together. There is comfort in spending time with people who understand the uncertainty, the changes, and the emotions that come with a cancer diagnosis. You don’t have to explain everything to feel understood.

Through conversations, laughter, some tears and quiet moments, we deepened bonds that will stay with us long after these three days.

Healing is deeply personal and unfolds differently for each of us. Having a community to walk beside us can make that journey feel a little less lonely.

We are grateful for this time with our Thrivers and proud that Gloria Gemma makes experiences like this possible. This is why we do this work: to help people feel supported, connected, and hopeful as they find their way forward. đź’—

November 5th, 6:45PM: Qigong is a traditional Chinese practice that calms the nervous system, builds energy, and improves mobility and body awareness. This class blends breathwork, visualization, and gentle movement to support body, mind, and spirit. All levels are welcome.
