There is hope in the data, and hope in the work being done every day to save lives. 💚
New data from the CDC’s WISQARS reporting system, highlighted in a recent article from the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention, shows that national su***de rates have remained stable overall, while rates have decreased across many racial and ethnic groups that have historically been underserved in mental health care and su***de prevention efforts.
This matters.
It is a powerful reminder that culturally relevant research, outreach, education, and prevention efforts are making a difference. When communities are seen, heard, and supported in ways that reflect their unique experiences and needs, lives can be saved.
There is still so much work to do. Too many individuals, families, and communities continue to be impacted by su***de. But this data shows we are moving in the right direction and that continued investment, expanded prevention efforts, and increased funding truly matter.
