is a registered 501(c)3 non-profit in Nebraska with volunteers who combined our love of babies with our love of sewing, knitting and crocheting to provide warm bedding and clothing for newborn babies of families in need. Lincoln has a location at 5930 South 58th Suite L (Next to Milk Works), they meet every Tuesday from 10am-3pm. Matthew Lutheran Church. 1725 S. 60th St., Omaha, NE, 68106
They
usually meet from 9:00 to 2:00 (or later) on the first and third Tuesday of the month, at St Matthews (plus occasional other work days as member and church schedules permit). A large part of our sewing and knitting is done at our homes and then brought in for organization and delivery. If you have donations or questions for a specific work group, please note it. Any donations not specifically noted will go into the State account and be disbursed according to need. Each group is responsible for its own funding, production and distribution, and reports to the SFB, Inc Board in Lincoln.

Give To Lincoln Day officially started May 1, 2024. Donations may be made online at www.givetolincoln.com with credit/debit cards from May 1 to midnight May 30. Checks may be dropped off at any Lincoln West Gate Bank branch lobby or commercial drop drawer from May 1 to May 30 between 8 am and 5 pm. Checks must be written to Lincoln Community Foundation with Sewing for Babies in the memo line. This is our main source of financial donations during the year, so we greatly appreciate your support of our mission.

Sewing for Babies had a visit yesterday from several representatives of the Lincoln Kiwanis Clubs. They donated 966 pairs of baby socks for our baby layettes. Since that is an item that we don't sew and we like to put two pairs in each layette, we are very grateful for their donation and continued support of Sewing for Babies. We have been providing between 325 and 350 layettes annually to agencies who work with families in need in the Lincoln/Lancaster area. That requires 700 pairs of baby socks, so we are well stocked with this gift from the Kiwanis Clubs.

Our stuffed animal bin is empty. We like to put one small stuffed animal in each of our layette bags. Beanie baby size is ideal so they can fit down in the pocket. Here is a idea of ones that can be sewn at home, ribbons are added to the neck for texture. If you would like to donate a small stuff animal we are open Tuesdays 10-3

2022 was another busy year donating well over 300 layettes to the various agencies we work with.

Seven Lincoln Kiwanis Clubs collected 830 pairs of baby socks and donated them to Sewing for Babies on Jan. 3, 2023 at the studio in the Trade Center
Suite L, 5930 South 58th Street.
Two pairs of infant socks go into each baby layette donated to agencies in Lincoln/Lancaster County who work with families in need.
In 2022 347 layettes containing two dozen baby items were donated to the agencies to give to their clients with newborn babies. We extend a huge "Thank You" to the Kiwanis Clubs for their support of our mission!

Also, some sewing and knitting can be done at home and then brought in for distribution. Volunteers are always welcome - being able to sew is not a requirement. We need help with ironing, cutting, sorting, cleaning, etc. Stop by the studio any Tuesday for a tour and see what we do.
