Wetlands are nature's powerhouses — filtering stormwater, controlling floods, and supporting some of the most biodiverse habitats on Earth. But here, they're something rarer: Nebraska's Eastern Saline Wetlands have shrunk from roughly 20,000 acres to fewer than 4,000, found mainly along Little Salt Creek and Rock Creek. These fragile wetlands are a lifeline for over 250 bird species and the endangered Salt Creek Tiger Beetle — found nowhere else on the planet.
