Center for People - Pantry, Jobs, & Education We provide services and programs to our low-income community that address basic needs and provide opportunities to achieve economic independence.

The Center for People was founded in a 700 square foot garage in 2002, with the desire to provide the Lincoln community with the tools needed to achieve economic independence. Over the years it has grown to a 100,000 square foot facility serving thousands of low-income families each year. The Center’s services include regular food and diaper distributions, free English Language Learning classes, the POP scholarship program, career development services, the Opening Doors community reentry program, resume assistance, and more. We provide the basic needs and educational opportunities necessary for low-income individuals and families to improve their lives.

The milestones along the way are important.

This Friday, we're taking the time to celebrate those milestones. Whether it's earning a certification, taking steps toward reentry, progressing in English language learning, or becoming a certified forklift operator, learners in our programming are all putting in the effort to build better lives.

We hope you'll join us in celebrating that progress!

We offer flexible learning opportunities that help people gain the skills they need to build brighter futures. Whether you’re looking to earn new credentials, learn the basics, or dive into a new field, our programs are here to support you every step of the way.

This will be the last open application period of 2026, so be sure to submit yours before Nov. 15!

The next FREE LEGAL CLINIC is THIS THURSDAY, OCT 1.

We are proud to partner with the NE Bar Association's Volunteer Lawyers Project to provide these regular Legal Clinics here at Center for People, totally free.

Low-income Nebraskans may come and speak with a volunteer attorney from the Volunteer Lawyers Project about a variety of civic legal matters. All questions and advice are confidential and offered completely free of charge.

These legal clinics will be available on the first Thursday of every month for the rest of the year! Visit us from 10 am - 12 pm to speak with an expert and get the legal advice you need.

We're excited and grateful to share that Q2 has selected Center for People as a recipient of the 2026 Q2 Philanthropy Fund.

Their support allows us to continue providing free English Language Learning classes to the community. These classes help people build confidence, find connections, and work toward their goals. One day and one word at a time.

Sometimes, a snack is more than a snack.

The Fueler Fridge in our education space gives learners at Center for People regular access to fresh food and nutritious snacks to fuel their growth during classes, training, and other programs.

Apples, jerky, muffins, and a variety of other snacks are always available to provide a little boost to get through the day.

It's a simple resource, but it's one that our learners have grown to love.

We want to give special thanks to the Nebraska Presbyterian Foundation and our partners at Lone Tree Foods for helping make it possible.
