BIBNE continues to work on closing the gap between minority students receiving scholarships and we have been increasing the annual scholarships we award to Black/African American students in Nebraska since 2021. Per the US. Scholarship Statistics Minority students chances of getting a scholarship is 11.2% compared to that of white students at 14.2%.

Our annual scholarship applications are officially OPEN — and this year, they matter more than ever.

With recent decisions in Nebraska — and across the country — defunding scholarships and programs that support diversity, equity, and inclusion, our work to uplift Black students has become even more urgent.

These scholarships aren’t just financial aid — they’re a statement that Black students in Nebraska deserve to be seen, supported, and given the tools to thrive.

Did you know? Students of color are 3% less likely to receive scholarships compared to their white peers. That gap is only widening as critical programs are being stripped away.

This is where we — and you — come in.

Whether you’re a student looking to apply, an educator hoping to spread the word, or a community member ready to donate, your involvement makes a direct impact. Every dollar raised helps ensure Black students in Nebraska feel valued and empowered to pursue their education and their dreams.
