👩‍🦽💚🧠 Thank you to the over 60 vegan and disability rights advocates who joined us for our first annual Disabled Vegan Expo!

Together, we:

• celebrated the contributions of disabled vegans to the animal rights movement
• raised awareness about the connections between ableism and speciesism
• advanced disability rights within the animal rights movement

We would also like to thank our incredible speakers who made this event possible. Their insightful talks equipped us with crucial knowledge about the underexplored intersection of disability rights and animal liberation, in turn helping us overcome the oppressive forces of both ableism and speciesism.

Thank you all, once more, for making this event a reality. We hope you found it as valuable, instructive, and uplifting as we did.

We look forward to seeing you next year as we continue fighting to build a just, equitable society where everyone can thrive, regardless of ability or species!

In response to 'South Korea's Parliament passes landmark ban on production and sales of dog meat.' It appears to me, the majority of South Korea's population is positively disrupting centuries old violent "cultural traditions" by viewing dog animals less as property and more as side-by-side loving companions. It has nothing to do with today's dogs being smarter than dogs a century ago, but rather, collective human minds expanding their field of compassion to include a species being factory farmed in numbers of 500 to 7,000 dogs.
In my opinion, this is an exemplary example of how an idea of reducing worldwide suffering by including animal-others is possible with individuals, groups, States and Nations! I feel, we should never settle for simple thinking like "this is just the way things are" but rather, seriously consider being better versions of ourselves when the author of 'Riding on the Power of Others' - Ren Hurst mentions "taking a deep look at the things we do and be willing to question their validity in our moving toward the life and the world we hope to create." The many individual peaceful acts we can choose to do daily by removing an animal off of our food plate menu, are not extreme, but can have the effect of changing a nation!

The day is coming in the United States there will be an animal rights bill with the following language:
“This law is aimed at contributing to realizing the values of animal rights, which pursue respect for life and a harmonious co-existence between humans and animals”
The bill offers assistance to dog (hog, cow, chicken etc) farmers and others in the industry in shutting down their businesses and shifting to alternatives. Details are to be worked out among government officials, farmers, experts and animal rights activists.

South Korea’s parliament on Tuesday passed a landmark ban on production and sales of dog meat, as public calls for a prohibition have grown sharply over concerns about animal rights and the country’s international image.

This is a "thank you" post to Gregg and a small business called Vegan Babe! I was gifted a black package from an individual (Gregg) who used to own Skymart but now only does catering. He told me his niece owns Vegan Babe (Christina) and he bought me a Christmas gift. The crazy thing is, Gregg and I only know each other by routinely being in the same place crossing paths and us mutually acknowledging each other's presence; not even on a first name basis.
During the hot summers and cold winter months, I work out in my manual rugby wheelchair in downtown Lincoln called the Atrium building. When I work out, I proudly present as a vegan athlete, and because of this, Gregg generously supported his nieces business and I am very appreciative to receive such a gift! Please read the details about this t-shirt given to me!
