Nebraska Right to Life also has tiny 12-week old babies to hand out, bracelets, magnets, information and voting guides for the upcoming election.

A newborn baby girl was found in an Omaha alley this morning. This heartbreaking situation is an important reminder: Nebraska has a Safe Haven law.

Thankfully, this newborn baby was found and brought to safety. Our hearts are with this baby and with a mother who needed a safe option today. While we do not yet know the circumstances that led to this dangerous situation, no woman should feel she has nowhere to turn during an unexpected pregnancy or new motherhood.

Across Nebraska, pregnancy help centers and other organizations stand ready to support expectant and new mothers with practical resources, support and compassion.

Nebraska’s Safe Haven Law:
A baby 90 days old or younger can be safely surrendered to an employee on duty at a hospital, staffed fire station, staffed law enforcement agency or emergency care provider. A person who safely surrenders a baby in accordance with the law is protected from prosecution based solely on that surrender.

Helen and Pastor Ed Rogers believe God called them to restore a former abortion clinic in Fayetteville, North Carolina—a building Helen says had operated for 27 years and represented tremendous loss.

At first, she resisted.

“I told God I didn’t want that building,” Helen recalled. “Lord, this is a place of death.”

But she believed God responded with a promise: “I will bring life from this place.”

The couple prayed throughout the building, anointed it and began the work of restoration. A room once used for abortion procedures was transformed into an ultrasound room, where mothers can now see their unborn babies. Another room became a chapel dedicated to prayer, healing and forgiveness.

Today, the building is home to Agape Pregnancy Support Services, offering hope and practical support to women and families.

“I am exactly where Jesus would be,” Helen said. “God is the author of life—both physical and eternal.”

What was once associated with death has become a place of life, compassion and redemption.
