Lincoln, NE Grants for 2025
The Viking Foundation of Lincoln has announced its 2025 grants totaling a record $150,000 to nonprofit organizations, including 18 in Lancaster County.
“We received nearly double the number of grant proposals this year compared to 2024,” said Steve Eggland, the foundation’s president and founder. “In light of this, we were very pleased to also significantly increase our level of funding.”
The Viking foundation supported a record 33 grants, including these in the Lincoln area:
• ACLU—$5,000 for an awareness and engagement campaign
• Belmont Community Center--$5,000 to help purchase a van
• Big Brothers Big Sisters—$3,000 for its mentoring program
• Branched Oak Observatory—$5,000 for field trips for public school children
• BraveBe Child Advocacy Center—$3,000 in support of books and resources
• Court Appointed Special Advocates—$3,000 for its activity fund for foster children
• Fitting Futures—$3,000 to help support automation of its inventory
• Friendship Home of Lincoln—$3,000 for health-related supplies
• Girls on the Run—$5,000 to support low-income girls’ participation
• Lincoln Hygiene Network—$3,000 for health products and educational materials
• Lincoln International FC—$4,000 for soccer program costs
• Lincoln Literacy—$5,000 to support its literacy improvement program
• Lincoln Music Teachers Association—$5,000 for its music outreach program
• Lincoln Public Schools Career Academy—$5,000 for a pilot program for special education students
• Mourning Hope--$4,000 for grief support group funding
• Nebraska Appleseed--$5,000 in support of staffing costs
• Nebraska Children and Families Foundation—$5,000 for its Camp Catch Up program
• We Can Do This--$4,000 for food for their weekend hunger relief effort.
Fifteen additional grants were given in Denver County, Colo., and Polk County, Iowa.
The Viking Foundation was created to help improve and enrich the lives of individuals—especially children—who are less fortunate. The foundation provides charitable grants to 501(c)(3) organizations primarily in three counties. The grants are directed to those who are challenged with issues related to poverty, housing, gender, education, mental and physical health, and others.
