The 52nd Crop Hunger Walk is scheduled for October 10th. The 3 mile walk will begin and end at Bethany Christian Church, 1645 North Cotner, Lincoln, NE. Registration begins at 1:00 pm and the walk starts at 1:30 pm. The route is handicap accessible and pets on leashes are welcome. A virtual walk can be done for those who feel more comfortable any time before October 10th.
If you would prefer not to walk and would still like to participate, the Hickman Presbyterian Church, Hickman, NE is having a Dinner Out, where for the price of a free-will donation (checks should be made out to CWS/CROP) or online at https://events, crophungerwalk.org/2021/team/norris-area-crop-meal). They will be serving shredded turkey gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, roll and assorted desserts on October 10, from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. You can pick up meal(s) on the west side of Hickman Presbyterian Church, located at 300 East Street or go inside to eat. Church World Service is the sponsoring agency of the CROP Walk, where their mission is to eliminate hunger locally and around the world. Given that 9 million people die of hunger each year and a child dies every 10 seconds, makes this a very important goal. Twenty-five percent of our donations stay in the Lincoln-Lancaster area, and benefits local pantries like the Northeast Area Pantry which just celebrated its 50th year.
Between Omaha and Lincoln, 25,400 people receive food each week from these pantries.
