Belmont Treat Street is THIS SUNDAY, October 25th, from 1-2:30 pm at Belmont Park.

This is a free, family-friendly Halloween event, so come dressed in your favorite costumes and bring a trick-or-treat bag to take home loads of candy.

(Event will be moved indoors to the Belmont Recreation Center if there is inclement weather.)

⭐️ 5:30-6 PM - FREE Dinner (Beef hot dogs provided by We Can Do This - Lincoln)
⭐️ 6-8 PM - FREE Flag Football Clinic with the Clyde Malone Community Center Girls Flag Football Team & these Nebraska Huskers.
⭐️ There will be a giveaway for 2 flag football kits at the end of the event!

Husker Softball player Emmerson Cope is also one of our part-time staff! 😍

Her story 👇 about growing up with hearing loss, receiving hearing aids at age 5, and what it meant to pursue sports is truly inspiring!

Nebraska softball player Emmerson Cope has spoken openly about growing up with hearing loss, receiving hearing aids at age 5, and what it meant to pursue sports without seeing many athletes who shared her experience.

Cope has said that as a child, she did not realize how much of the world around her she could not hear. Getting hearing aids changed the way she experienced everyday life, but her hearing loss also shaped how she viewed representation in sports.

“Growing up, I never saw anyone like me playing sports and didn’t know if my goals and aspirations were even possible,” Cope wrote in an Instagram post.

Now competing at Nebraska, Cope has continued using her platform to talk about hearing loss, inclusion, and the deaf and hard-of-hearing community.

She has also shared how that experience is influencing what comes next.

Cope is completing her final undergraduate semester before beginning graduate school to become a Speech-Language Pathologist, with the goal of helping others communicate and find their voice.

“Being an athlete with hearing loss has taught me resilience and patience,” Cope wrote. “Every challenge has pushed me to grow, and every victory reminds me that our differences are our strengths.”

From receiving hearing aids at 5 to competing at the Division I level, Cope’s story is also one of representation for young athletes who may not often see their experiences reflected in the sport.

This network was founded with the idea of supporting nonprofits. We believe local businesses fill roles in our community, and so do nonprofit organizations.

A portion of all membership dollars go into the individual groups so they can decide what to do with the money.

We love when groups choose to give their money to their nonprofit members!

Congratulations to Belmont Community Center for receiving another check from your ERN group lead by Manuel Walker with Nebraska Knockerball LLC!

ERN has given over $30,000 to nonprofits this year thanks to the generosity of our members, the leadership team and our commitment to building our communities here in Nebraska.

We are beginning work on our next three-year strategic plan and imagining how a future capital campaign could enhance and expand the center so it can continue serving our neighborhood. Emily was named a finalist for the 2026 Inspire Award for Excellence in Nonprofit. This recognition is an honor and a reflection of the impact she's making in our community.

🏆 Spirit of Lincoln Neighborhood Awards - Strengthening Neighborhoods Award
Emily received the Strengthening Neighborhoods Award (Individual) at the Spirit of Lincoln Neighborhood Awards (SOLNA), hosted by NeighborWorks Lincoln!
This award honors an individual whose leadership has created unique and positive outcomes at the neighborhood level. It’s especially meaningful as this is the individual counterpart to the Strengthening Neighborhoods Award (Group), which was awarded to the Belmont SNAC in 2023.

Emily, we believe in you, we are grateful for you, and this neighborhood is better because of you. Congratulations!

👻 Spooky Season has officially begun! 🎃

We are looking for volunteers and organizations to host a trunk (or table) and help make our Annual Belmont Treat Street event another sweet success! Hosts should plan on providing enough treats for about 700 children.
