Rekha can now feed her family from her small business.

Rekha comes from a tiny village in Northern India. A year ago her family lived in extreme poverty. After coming to know Christ she went regularly with her husband and daughter to church but they were not able to overcome their struggle with poverty. Her pastor recommended her to attend the Priscilla Project of LCN, a KHI partner to be trained as a beautician. She was very excited to get the month-long training for young women as she was very interested to open her own beauty parlor to support her suffering family.

She received the best training in hairdressing, bridal makeup, etc. She returned back to her village with a gift of makeup products, a mirror and a table provided by LCN. She immediately opened the parlor in her tiny house. Slowly but steadily, she began to get clients. She says with great joy, “God took away my problems and I was really happy as I could see my husband and child enjoy God’s blessings. He took away our poverty and now I can say that I am able to feed my family. I am able to share Bible stories to my clients. Ladies are coming to the saving knowledge of Christ and growing in His love”.

Thank God for the vocational skill training provided by KHI partners in India. Continue to uphold the trainers and the students. Please pray for more ministry partners to come forward to support such initiatives, as there is a huge need to equip men and women to begin micro businesses to bring their families out of poverty.

Wish you all a very blessed Christmas and a great New Year!

A couple of years ago KHI partner Melaku Meseret (CDL) took me (Mark) to Gambela, a small city in the western part of Ethiopia. KHI/CDL had been working mostly in the central and Northern part of the vast Ethiopian
nation at that time. There were more than 100, 000 Nuer speaking Sudanese refugees living 30 miles away from the city. It was heartbreaking to see the poverty and pain of the thousands of homeless people. There was no education opportunity for their children or job opportunities for their youth. Mekkonen, the pastor of Gambela Full Gospel introduced David, an enthusiastic young man to KHI and we agreed to work together.
David has now planted 7 churches. Hundreds are now getting baptized and becoming active leaders. The first church he planed is growing rapidly. He is building a bigger facility in the place provided by the Ethiopian government to accommodate all of them.

FIKERA ATOMSA is one of the missionaries supported by KHI at NENISHANGUL region of Northern Ethiopia. He had been praying and fasting many days before he went down to this location. Before he went, there were very few Christians. He started the ministry with those few Christians. After facing so many challenges, he witnessed people responding the gospel. His persistent prayers and evangelistic work started bearing fruits.

Now he has 200 baptized Christians, some of them are teachers, policemen, government officers, and farmers. The church is constantly growing. In June 2017 he baptized 17 new believers. Even though the church he planted is growing so fast, he has a challenge of transportation and he needs more Bibles to distribute to the new Christians.

Medical camp opens the door for 250 villagers in West Bengal state (91 million people live in this state) to hear the good news. KHI missionaries arranged this camp amidst opposition. Continue to uphold the ministry to the unchurched villages by the local believers.

KHI missionary is free from Prison after three years.

Three years ago Tibebu, a KHI/CDL missionary and two lay leaders in Northern Ethiopia were arrested for sharing the gospel in a village highly dominated by Orthodox Church leaders. The judge in the lower court, an Orthodox Church member sentenced them to five years of imprisonment. Now they are set free by the Supreme Court judge, as he found them to be innocent.

God had a specific reason for them to be in jail for three long years. Thirty-six of their inmates have come to know Jesus as their savior including a hard-core criminal who has 9 murder charges and a well-known Orthodox priest who is charged with sexual abuse through the testimony of these three men. Tibebu taught the scriptures to the new believers and equipped them well. They are now sharing their testimonies with other prisoners and leading the regular worship service.

The Lord has turned the prison sentence to a blessing to them and to the men in prison. The families of these brave men of God, their churches and KHI prayer warriors have prayed and trusted the Lord for their release. It is time to thank God for hearing our prayers. Please continue to pray for the believers who are persecuted for their faith by the Orthodox Church leaders and the Islamic fundamentalists in Ethiopia.

Meeting the social needs of the poor communities:
Kingdom’s Harvest International missionaries serve the needs of the villages in many different ways. Often due to illiteracy, the villagers are unaware of the compensation provided by the government to farmers who lost their crops due to drought in the region.
One day a KHI missionary prayed earnestly and asked the Lord to give him favor from the local authorities and help meet the needs of the farmers in his village. The next day he made serious efforts and gathered 32 farmers, took them to the concerned office and assisted them in filling up the necessary papers. A month later all of them received monetary help from the government. This act of kindness has opened the door for the gospel in that village.
Other social issues addressed by our missionaries are providing water wells, assisting the poor families in obtaining “Below Poverty Line” identity cards to receive monthly financial assistance from the government, educating farmers on the modern methods of cultivation, providing free tuition for school children, training on entrepreneurial skills for young people and raising funds from the churches and assisting poor girls to get married. We are serving hundreds of villages across India and Ethiopia.

Miraculous Escape
Radha is a woman worker in a large factory. One day after her work she was walking back to her home and some men kidnapped, blindfolded and took her to an unknown place far from her home. She was crying out to God for her rescue. At night when her kidnappers were sleeping, she quietly slipped out of the house and escaped. She knew that the there was no way she could have escaped unless there was a supernatural intervention as she was powerless before the men who had abducted her. A few days later she heard the gospel from a KHI missionary. Immediately she recognized that it was the mighty hand of God that helped her to miraculously escape. She believed that the Lord Jesus saved her physically for a great purpose on earth and she has to be saved spiritually to receive eternal life. Now she is a follower of Jesus and an active leader in the local church.
