For the past few summers, Krystyna's home became unbearably hot because her air conditioning system no longer worked. Thanks to the generosity of Villara and a compassionate paddle raise donor at Night at the Races, her wish for a new AC unit is now a reality.

Krystyna came to America from Poland in search of a better life and is incredibly proud to be a U.S. citizen. But life has not been without hardship. She and her husband lost everything in the Paradise Fire, and the terrifying experience of evacuating through the flames left her too traumatized to drive again. A year later, she lost her husband due to lung damage caused by the fire.

Today, because of caring donors and community partners, Krystyna can look forward to a cool, comfortable home this summer. Thank you for helping Silver Wishes change lives and restore hope, comfort, and dignity for local seniors—one wish at a time. The smile says it all. Welcome home to comfort, Krystyna.

At 93 years old, Jack is truly a lover of life. A proud veteran with endless stories to share, he kept us smiling the entire time, especially when he pointed to his t-shirt and joked about his recent heart valve replacement, saying, “That poor cow.”

Jack’s Silver Wish was for a new swamp cooler for his mobile home. After learning he had no idea how he was going to make it through the summer heat without one, our hearts knew we had to help. With tears in his eyes, Jack couldn’t stop saying thank you after the installation was complete. Thanks to the generosity of Quality Sheet Metal Heating & Air, Inc., who donated the labor, Jack can now stay cool and comfortable this summer. Wishes like Jack’s remind us that sometimes the smallest acts of kindness can lift the biggest burdens.

At 94 years young, Vince knew exactly what he wanted for his one-time Silver Wish, a safe new walker with a seat. His old walker had a broken axle and simply wasn’t safe anymore.

But this wish became so much more than delivering a walker. When our volunteers arrived to surprise Vince, HE had gifts waiting for THEM. By the end of the visit, none of us were quite sure who received the greater gift that day — Vince or the volunteers.

After the volunteers left, Vince called just to thank everyone again for the visit. And when asked what having his wish fulfilled meant to him, his response was unforgettable: “Life is an adventure, to be enjoyed and embraced. Thank you.”

Throwback Thursday to an incredible Night at the Races!

Last weekend’s event was a beautiful example of what happens when a community comes together to support local seniors going through difficult times. From the energy in the room to the generosity of our sponsors, donors, guests, and volunteers, the evening was filled with purpose and impact.

Because of this support, Silver Wishes will be able to grant even more one-time wishes that restore hope, dignity, and joy to seniors in our community.

We’re still soaking in the memories from Silver Wishes’ 5th Annual Night at the Races! We are overwhelmed all over again by the incredible love and support shown by this community. Because of our sponsors, guests, donors, volunteers, and community partners, this year’s event was our most successful yet.

This event was a beautiful reminder of what happens when a community comes together with compassion and purpose. Every sponsorship, donation, volunteer hour, raffle ticket, and smiling face in that room helped create hope, restore dignity, and remind seniors they are seen, valued, and loved.

A special thank you to the Rotary Club of Lincoln and Roseville Rotary and Brent Smedley for your tremendous support and partnership this year. And thank you to Elkin Images for beautifully capturing the energy, joy, and heart behind this unforgettable evening.

Linda has been working to transition to a vegetarian diet due to some health challenges. During a recent health & wellness event, she learned about all the healthy sauces, smoothies, soups, and recipes that could easily be made with a Vitamix blender. She left inspired… but also thinking a Vitamix would probably never fit into her budget.

Thanks to your support, Silver Wishes was able to make Linda’s wish come true with her very own Vitamix blender — along with a gift card for groceries and a cookbook to help her get even more creative in the kitchen with nutritious and delicious meals. Bon appétit, Linda!

Wishes come in all shapes and sizes — and sometimes the smallest things can make the biggest difference.

Pat has been struggling with severe hand tremors, making everyday communication incredibly difficult. Even using her phone to text or stay connected with others had become frustrating and overwhelming. Thanks to your generous support, Silver Wishes was able to grant Pat’s wish for an iPad and a Titan Wireless Keyboard to help make typing, texting, and staying connected easier again. A simple wish… but one that restores independence, connection, and hope.
