❄️🐻‍❄️ POLAR BEAR AWARD – Are YOU Tough Enough? 🐻‍❄️❄️

Cold weather won’t stop a true Scout! The Polar Bear Award recognizes Cub Scouts who brave the winter elements and experience the adventure of cold-weather camping.

Each Pack decides when Scouts receive the award - Miami units might have a different definition of polar than International Falls units!

🥾 How Do You Get It?

Cub Scout units can purchase a patch directly at scoutshop.org (Supply Item Number 661073).

🧵 Uniform Placement

The Polar Bear Award is typically a temporary insignia patch, worn on the left pocket, or sewn onto a blanket, jacket, or other Scouting keepsake.

What about the other Scouting programs? Units and councils have created their own awards and their own requirements. Is your council not one of them? Reach out to see if they would create one, or create one for your unit!

The updated Position Trained Requirements document is now available. It outlines what is needed for an adult leader to be considered fully trained. Trained leaders may wear the official Trained emblem once they have completed Safeguarding Youth training and the courses listed in the updated document.

Mental Health First Aid is an international evidence-based education program proven to be effective in teaching adults how to recognize and respond to signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use challenges. Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge or is in crisis.
