The new Eisely Sunflower Garden was planted near the windmill this week in honor of Loren Eisely, the Lincoln-raised anthropologist and nature writer whose childhood days wandering the grasses and sunflowers along Salt Creek shaped his life and work. 🌻

This garden was initiated by Tom Lynch of the Loren Eisely Society and planted by the small hands of preschool, kindergarten, and first grade students—exactly the kind of early connection with nature that can inspire curiosity for a lifetime.

Every year, the city of Lincoln, Eiseley's hometown, sponsors a "Give to Lincoln Day." This year, through the month of May, you can donate to this effort, and support the society's work of keeping Loren's legacy alive in his hometown, and around the world. In the past year, we placed a historical marker near the creek where he used to play, sponsored two musical evenings about "The Star Thrower," and began work on two "Sunflower Forests," where children can learn about Eiseley and about nature. Please donate if you can. Thanks.

Loren Eiseley belongs to Nebraska. Help us keep his legacy alive — donate today.
