Huge thank you to the team at M.L. McDonald LLC for hosting their first charity golf tournament yesterday in honor of Joe. We loved attending and hearing all of their stories about working with Joe and how much they loved him. We're so grateful for their continued support and partnership! 💙

We would be remiss if we did not also shout out Norman Tashash, Steve Long, and Richard Adams who participated in Joe's memory, as well as the foursome from Lincoln Police Department who golfed in support of our family.

And a special thank you to Josie who worked hard to hand out Joseph Kiley Foundation stickers to everyone there!

6 years ago, Joe’s time on earth with us ended. Today we spent the day together as a family— grilling, swimming, and watching for signs of Joe. Our lives will never be the same, but we choose to remember the good times and honor his memory by continuing his fight. Sending our love to everyone thinking of Joe today. Love, the Kileys 💙🤍🩵

Our hearts are with Sergeant Gates’ family and the Cranston, RI Police Department today 💙

We were notified Sergeant Gates (Badge 328) passed away this morning at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence.

Sergeant Gates retired after an exceptional career spanning more than three decades of dedicated service to the Cranston Police Department and the City of Cranston. He was widely respected as a tenacious investigator who successfully handled many high-profile and complex investigations throughout his career. Beyond his investigative accomplishments, Mike was a trusted mentor who generously shared his knowledge with countless young detectives, helping to shape the next generation of investigators. More importantly, he was a loyal friend, trusted confidant, and someone whose character earned the respect and admiration of all who knew him.

Following his retirement, Sergeant Gates was diagnosed with ALS. He faced this devastating disease with extraordinary courage, determination, and dignity—the same strength and resilience that defined his career as a police officer. His unwavering commitment to our department, his fellow officers, and the citizens of Cranston will never be forgotten, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of serving alongside him.

Please keep the Gates family in your thoughts during this incredibly difficult time.
