💛 The Need for Volunteers in West Central Illinois Is Real — and It’s Dire

Across our area, organizations that once helped thousands of people are being forced to reduce services or even close their doors — not because the need is gone, but because the volunteers are.

This isn’t an exaggeration. It’s happening right now.
Year‑round services are already being impacted, and the time to act is now — before the hope and magic of Christmas are affected too.
Let’s keep Santa alive in West Central Illinois.

Hope is something our community needs more than ever — but it doesn’t happen on its own. It happens because volunteers make it happen.

We understand — times are tough. People are stretched thin. Schedules are packed.
But here’s the truth: it doesn’t cost anything to volunteer.
It costs time, compassion, and a willingness to show up — and those things are priceless.

So many have already given so many hours over the years.
Now it’s time to ask: what could you give if you have the time?

Be the difference.
Be the reason hope keeps moving forward.
Because hope doesn’t happen on its own — it happens when people choose to make it happen.

Don’t let Toys for Tots of West Central Illinois become another organization that fades away because no one stepped up.

Hope is needed. Volunteers make it real.
And right now, hope needs you.

🎁 What Happens If No One Steps Up?

Toys for Tots of West Central Illinois has always been powered by people — not a company, not a board, not a CEO. Just volunteers with heart.
And right now, we’re waiting for the next person willing to carry that heart forward.

If no one volunteers as Coordinator, the local chapter simply can’t operate.
There’s no automatic system to keep things running — it takes someone local to lead.

Here’s what that means:

The local campaign pauses until a new Coordinator steps in.

Any remaining funds are redirected by the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation to help children nationwide.

Any leftover toys are shared one final time with area nonprofits, so they still reach kids in need.

But there’s no Christmas distribution here at home — and hundreds of families lose a resource that has meant so much.

We’ve heard countless stories from hardworking parents who said,
“If it weren’t for Toys for Tots, my kids would have fallen through the cracks.”
Those stories remind us that this mission isn’t just about toys — it’s about compassion, dignity, and hope.

The current Coordinator isn’t stepping away because she doesn’t care — she’s doing what’s necessary for her family, while praying that someone new will rise up to continue the mission.
Because her hope is that her own season of rest doesn’t become a season of struggle for others.

If you’ve ever felt called to lead, to serve, or to make a difference — this is your moment.
Email [email protected] to learn more about how you can help keep the mission alive.

Hope doesn’t fade when someone steps up — it grows.
Be the one who helps it grow.

🎁 What Does a Toys for Tots Coordinator Actually Do?
And Why Do We Need One NOW?

As we move toward the midway point of the year, we are still waiting for the person who will step forward and make sure this mission of hope continues in West Central Illinois. Without a Coordinator, our local campaign cannot operate — and thousands of children depend on it every Christmas.

If you’ve ever wondered what we mean when we say “a new Coordinator is needed,” here’s what that role truly includes:

Collect donations — toys and monetary gifts throughout the year. All funds are sent to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, which handles banking and tracking so every dollar stays designated for our local community.

Submit receipts — follow the purchasing guidelines in the official SOP to ensure all spending is approved and documented.

Plan toy distribution — choose your dates, locations, and whether families will shop or receive pre‑packed gifts.

Recruit volunteers — gather helpers, coordinate tasks, and encourage community involvement.

Manage registrations — collect family information, track how many children you can serve, and ensure you only accept registrations you can fulfill.

Coordinate fundraising — plan additional fundraisers if needed and partner with local media and organizations to support the mission.

Track inventory — keep count of toys coming in and going out so distribution runs smoothly.

Submit annual reports — summarize your campaign’s impact for the Foundation.

You’ll also:

Attend a two‑day training in September with the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation.

Gain access to the secure Coordinator portal with guidebooks, memos, SOPs, and resources.

Join a Coordinator‑only Facebook group where leaders across the country share ideas, solutions, and support.

This is a volunteer position, but it’s flexible — you run it around your hours, your volunteers’ schedules, and your community’s needs. You make the decisions. You shape the mission.

And right now, we need someone willing to say,
“I’ll lead. I’ll help keep this mission alive.”

If this speaks to your heart, email [email protected] to learn more.

Hope doesn’t happen by accident — it happens because someone chooses to lead.

🎄 Coordinator Wanted for the 2026 Christmas Season!

Change can be hard, but it often opens the door for new beginnings.
As our current Coordinator prepares to step back to focus on family and health, Toys for Tots of West Central Illinois is looking for someone new to carry the mission forward.

This program doesn’t run on autopilot — it runs on people with heart.
Every toy drive, every event, every smile at Christmas happens because someone in our community chooses to lead.

We’re now seeking a Coordinator to begin this year and guide the 2026 Christmas season.
There’s plenty of time for training, and the role is flexible — you’ll have the freedom to plan around your own schedule and decide how local toy distribution looks in your area.

This isn’t about perfection; it’s about passion.
If you’ve ever wanted to make a real impact, this is your moment to step up.
Gather your friends, talk to your family, or take the leap yourself — you can be the reason hope keeps shining in West Central Illinois.

The mission needs a leader. Maybe that leader is you. ❤️

💛 Sometimes life brings changes we didn’t plan for — and all we can do is trust in God’s plan.

As many of you know, Toys for Tots of West Central Illinois is 100% volunteer‑run. That means when one leader needs to step back, someone else must step forward to keep the mission moving.

This year, we are officially seeking a new Coordinator to begin right away — because in just seven months, Christmas will be here again, and there are thousands of kids in our community who need YOU.

Don’t worry about not knowing what to do — there’s plenty of time for training, and the best part is that you get to shape how your local program runs. You decide the schedule, the events, and how toys are distributed in your area.

This mission is deeply important, and the current Coordinator is not stepping away lightly. But sometimes, you have to recognize when you’ve given all you can and when it’s time to take care of yourself and your family.

We KNOW there are amazing, generous people in this community.
You can step up on your own, gather a group of friends, talk to your family — build your tribe and make a difference.

This is your moment to be the light.
To bring hope.
To keep the mission alive in West Central Illinois.

If this speaks to your heart, please email [email protected] to learn more about how to get started.

🚂 A quick update from Toys for Tots of West Central Illinois

We wanted to share that Toys for Tots will not be participating in the Dogwood Parade this year.
As many of you know, Jessica is stepping back from her role as Coordinator to focus on her family and health. Because our local chapter is 100% volunteer‑run, that means someone new must step forward to keep things moving.

This parade may seem like a small thing, but it’s a perfect example of how this mission doesn’t run on “magic” alone — it runs on people. It takes a community. It takes a leader.

This isn’t just about commenting “I’ll help when I can.”
It’s about someone being willing to take the lead, make the plans that need the help, and rally the volunteers who make it all happen.

If you’ve ever felt called to serve, to lead, or to make a difference for kids in need — now is the time.
Send an email to [email protected] to learn what’s involved and how you can step forward.

Because when one person leads, hope keeps moving.
And that’s what this mission is all about. ❤️

🎉 Big news for Pike County!
We’re thrilled to officially welcome Angie Armbruster as the new Coordinator for Toys for Tots of Pike County!

Angie and her family have been helping lead Toys for Tots efforts locally for many years, and we couldn’t be more grateful for their dedication and hearts. Today we received word that Angie’s application has been approved by the Marine Corps Foundation (not that we had any doubts!), and she’ll be attending official Foundation training in September.

She’s excited and ready to keep the mission moving forward — bringing hope, joy, and Christmas magic to kids right here in Pike County. ❤️ This is a huge win for the community — having a local Coordinator means an even stronger, more personal presence right where it's needed.

If you’d like to help Angie with these efforts, please reach out! This is a great opportunity for the community to have an even stronger local presence and continue the incredible work that’s been built over the years.

As a reminder, we’re still looking for someone to step forward into the Coordinator role for Adams, Brown, Hancock, and Schuyler Counties. This is your chance to continue the incredible work of past Coordinators and help keep the mission strong across West Central Illinois. If you’re interested in learning more about what’s involved and how to apply, please email [email protected] for details.

Hope grows when people choose to lead — and our community is ready for its next leaders.

🚂 We’re starting to see the conversation grow — and that’s a good thing!
It’s been amazing to see more people talking about the fact that Toys for Tots of West Central Illinois only continues if volunteers step forward. The attention is helping, but now it’s time to turn that awareness into action.

In the coming weeks, we’ll be announcing dates for several informational meetings for anyone interested in learning what it takes to help lead or support the local chapter.
Our current Coordinator — who has dedicated nine incredible years to this mission — will be leading these meetings to help make a smooth transition away from her duties so she can focus on her family and young kids.

These meetings are extremely important.
A lack of volunteers to transition to doesn’t magically put someone else in charge — it simply means the local program stops. We’ll offer multiple dates to make it easier for people with different schedules to attend, but now is the time to start asking yourself:

“If not me… then who?”

If you care about kids, community, and keeping the magic alive, please plan to attend one of these upcoming meetings.
Your involvement could be what keeps hope shining for families across West Central Illinois this Christmas. 🎁✨

🚂 A quick reality check about Toys for Tots of West Central Illinois:
Our local chapter is 100% volunteer‑run.
That means there’s no CEO, no paid staff, and no local board keeping things moving behind the scenes. Those roles exist only at the national Marine Corps Foundation level — not here at home.

Everything that happens locally — every toy drive, every event, every bit of Christmas magic — happens because people in our own community step up to make it happen.

For the past nine years, with over four years in the leadership position, our local Coordinator has done exactly that — dedicating her time, energy, and heart to making sure thousands of kids across West Central Illinois felt hope and joy at Christmas. Her leadership has been a gift to this community, and now it’s time for her to step back and focus on her family and young kids. The oldest is 11 and the youngest is 9....that means most of their entire lives have been spent helping move this mission forward.

It also means we need someone new to step forward.
Without volunteers, our local chapter simply can’t continue. There’s no automatic system that keeps it running — it’s powered entirely by people who care.

If you’ve ever wanted to make a real difference, this is your chance.
Step up. Get involved. Help keep the mission alive so we can keep bringing hope and joy to kids across West Central Illinois this Christmas.

No volunteers means no local Toys for Tots.
Let’s make sure the mission keeps moving forward.
