Ride Out For The Cure

Ride Out For The Cure Ride Out For The Cure is a local non profit foundation that raises funds and awareness for Pelotonia with the conviction of ONE GOALEND CANCER!

To understand fully what it is that we do and why we so passionately fight you need to know Pelotonia, the reason our non profit was formed. Pelotonia is an amazing one of a kind fundraising event that was founded in 2008 and takes place in Columbus, Ohio. The main attraction and focus of Pelotonia is a 180 mile grass root bike tour with ONE GOAL-END CANCER. It is a 3 day weekend event that involv

es entertainment, the ride, and volunteerism. Each year Pelotonia raises MILLIONS of dollars for cancer research and development for The Arthur James Cancer Hospital, The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer, and the Solove Research Institute. Pelotonia's operating expenses are covered by funding partners which allows 100% of ALL funds raised to go towards cancer research. Last year was a record breaking year with 7,270 riders who took to the road and $21,049,621was raised! February 4, 2013 the founding member of Ride Out For The Cure at the age of 30 was diagnosed with cancer. The James and her incredible oncologist saved her life. This year she will celebrate 2 years of being cancer free! Spring of 2013 she received a letter from The James on behalf of Team Buckeye, a peloton (a riding team made up of OSU students), inquiring if she would be willing to participate in their I Ride For You program. I Ride For You pairs up a student rider with a cancer survivor or patient who did or is currently receiving life saving treatment through The Arthus James Cancer Hospital. The goal of this relationship is for the fighter or survivor to share their journey with cancer, raise funds and awareness together, and the rider would participate in their name and honor. Kristin gladly accepted the offer to be involved and Ride Out For The Cure was born. Ride Out For The Cure is made up of 7 passionate and hard working cancer crusaders who fully operate under ONE GOAL-END CANCER! Last year Ride Out For The Cure held one event and raised over $10,000 for Pelotonia. This year we are hosting several events in the hopes of raising as much awareness as possible for Pelotonia in our community and to raise as much funds as we can so that a cure can and will be found! We fight because we can and because we should. We fight because we know a cure will be found and it will be found at The James. We will always fight, we will NEVER give up! Why is Ride Out For The Cure and Pelotonia so important? Because to find a cure you NEED research, to conduct the research they NEED funding, to get the proper funding to really be able to make a difference you NEED donations, to obtain donations we NEED you! Government funding is falling flat for cancer research and that is why Pelotonia is crucial in the fight! We have so many exciting events planned for this years Pelotonia, but we need your help! Please consider supporting Ride Out For The Cure and being a part of the fight!

Last May we hosted an event Country For The Cure to raise funding for Pelotonia to benefit lifesaving cancer research and development at OSUCCC-James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute. We decided we wanted to bless a local cancer fighter with VIP treatment at this event. That is how we came to meet Gary Golden. When I called Gary and asked him and his wife to be our guest his response was humbling, as if we just bestowed him with a major award. As a musician himself he felt honored to be invited. Him and I spoke for a long time. He told me of his fight and his life. When I had the opportunity to meet him the day of the event, he blessed me. I didn't know him well, but from my brief experience with him he was a genuine human being with a huge heart and kind soul. He was determined to fight. He gave thanks over and over for being there, listening to good music, meeting the artist, and seeing the support. Sadly, we learned last night of Gary's passing. Our deepest heartfelt sympathy and thoughts are with his family during this time. Please keep his family in your prayers. Cancer didn't win, a true and courageous warrior was granted eternal peace. Rest well fellow fighter.

I recently spent some time with Dr. Sameek Roychowdhury. Midway through our chat, I suddenly realized: Sameek represents several elements of Pelotonia funding: recruiting top researchers, funding innovative ideas, equipping labs. They all intersect with Sameek. “Pelotonia played a big … Read More »

My good friend and cancer crusader Dean McCombs needs our help TODAY! Dean recently rode his bicycle 180 miles participating in Pelotonia for ONE GOAL-END CANCER! TODAY is the LAST day for Pelotonia fundraising and Dean is $1,686 shy of meeting his fundraising commitment. 100% OF EVERY SINGLE PENNY RAISED THROUGH PELOTONIA FUNDS LIFESAVING CANCER RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT at OSUCCC-James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute...I can NOT stress that enough!
*To donate click the link below to visit Dean's Rider Profile, read why he rides, why this is important, and make a donation. No donation is too small, EVERY penny gets us one step closer to the cure! Do it for those who have lost their lives to this disease, do it for those who are battling the disease, do it for those who will be diagnosed! Remember 1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will hear the words "you have cancer" in their lifetime, lets change that starting NOW!*
