Before the ride, crossing the line, and one word to describe it all. 🚴‍♂️

A huge thank you to everyone who cheered us on and supported us along the way. It’s not too late to donate to our ride this year, and every dollar goes straight toward cancer research. Help us finish strong at the link below:

For 10+ years, Anissa-Neil Jenkins has been holding down the sidelines for Gears & Beers! As a melanoma survivor treated at The James, she knows firsthand the lifesaving power of cancer research. Years after her own diagnosis, her father was diagnosed with liver cancer and entered clinical trials funded directly by Pelotonia — giving her family precious extra time with him. That’s why Anissa shows up every year: to give back the hope and life that Pelotonia-funded research gave to her family.

"Every person and every moment matters. I have to keep moving forward because that moment in time may be the one that someone needs to keep them going."

What Drives Her: Celebrating this tribe of best friends who support each other through life, cancer battles, and every mile in between.

Anissa and the rest of our pit crew are out on the course today—she’ll be tracking our riders on the app, ringing her cowbell, and bringing all the noise as our team takes on the miles! 📣

After following her parents as part of the pit crew in 2021, Mallory Clark knew she had to jump on a bike and join them! Now in her 4th year riding with Gears & Beers, she shows up to honor her grandparents and everyone in her life who has been touched by cancer.

"When the miles get tough out on the road, I keep pedaling because battling cancer is wayyyy harder than this! My fight on that bike doesn’t compare to theirs."

Favorite Pelotonia Memory: The random houses in the middle of nowhere Ohio where families sit at the end of their driveways to cheer riders on!

Drop some love in the comments for Mallory as she brings that fire to the course this weekend! 🔥💚

A few of our Gears & Beers crew headed downtown tonight to soak in the incredible energy at the Pelotonia Opening Ceremony! Being surrounded by thousands of riders, survivors, and supporters is the ultimate reminder of why we do this.

To everyone riding, volunteering, or cheering along the course tomorrow—ride safe, stay strong, and let’s go end cancer! 💚

13 years strong! Encouraged to join over a decade ago by Holly Tomlinson, Van Spragg has been a mainstay on the team, helping Gears & Beers raise over $325,000 for cancer research at The James since the team's inception. This year, Van is riding with heavy motivation in honor of a cousin lost to cancer this past year.

"When the pedaling gets tough, I think of the battles people currently fighting cancer endure physically and mentally minute to minute. Worrying about muscle cramps seems pretty insignificant in comparison. The cold beer waiting at the end doesn't hurt either!"

Favorite Pelotonia Memory: Pounding a beer on the side of the road with a supporter.

Let's send Van off with plenty of energy as he takes on the road again tomorrow! 🚴‍♂️🍻

11 years ago, Angie Spragg watched Pelotonia from the sidelines and decided she wanted to be part of the ride to help end cancer. Today, she rides for everyone touched by cancer and for her children and grandchildren, in hopes of a future free from this disease.

"This is one hard day. Cancer patients don't have just one hard day... I keep pedaling so people with cancer have less hard days."

Favorite Pelotonia Memories: Hearing the bells, seeing the encouragement signs, and sharing the journey with family and friends.

Let’s make some noise for Angie as she takes on year 11 with the Gears & Beers crew tomorrow! 👏💚

After attending his first Pelotonia as a supporter, Josh Ambrister felt an unmistakable pull to join in, deeply inspired by seeing his friends ride selflessly for others. Now in his 7th year riding with Gears & Beers, he shows up to honor his mom, mother-in-law, father-in-law, and the many friends and family members who fought hard against cancer.

"When I look up at ANOTHER hill that I don’t know how I’ll get my body to climb, I think of everyone on my jersey that I ride for and how much harder of a battle they went through with cancer."

Favorite Pelotonia Memory: Seeing the bands and feeling the emotion of people on the side of the road yelling “thank you” for riding to help save their loved ones—and that incredible feeling at the finish line!

Drop some love in the comments for Josh as he gears up to tackle those hills with the team tomorrow! 🚴‍♂️💚

A veteran rider since the team’s very first year, Todd Clark got involved when his mother was undergoing cancer treatment. For 13 years, Todd has shown up for his parents, his team, and the mission to end cancer.

"100% of proceeds go towards eliminating cancer... and cancer sucks. When the miles get tough, I can’t quit on my people."

Favorite Pelotonia Tradition: The 100-mile start through downtown Columbus, unlimited PB&J’s at the support stops, and the rush at the finish line!

We're cheering Todd on as he rides for his people and that well-deserved finish line beer this weekend!
