An update. I've found a few new leads on the Lima Plant and will follow those. I will continue to research the effects of water contamination. Please allow me a little time to put togetherness my findings and to write a report. Thank you all for your support!

While our main focus is the Lima Water Utility right now, we believe it's important you know that Bluffton currently has the highest water contamination in the county. This report comes from the EPA. For 10 quarters in a row, the Lima City Water Treatment Plant has been in non-compliance with a violation of the Safe Drinking Water Act.

Here is some reading material on the link between tap water and cancer. Ohio has a higher rate of cancer than the national rate. Tap water is thought to be responsible for 100,000 cases of cancer every year in the US.

Of the 8 water treatment plants in Allen county, not a single one passed EWG Guidelines. Legal does not mean safe. Laws regarding the legal limits of water contamination levels have not been updated in nearly 20 years. Science has moved forward, while the government ignores the failing infrastructure of safe water. People are drinking, bathing in, and making bottles for their infants with water known to have cancer-causing contaminants. Safe water is a right for all.

These are the results of the Lima City Water Treatment Plant listed on the EWG website. This is completely unacceptable. This water treatment plant serves 65,619 people in the Lima area. There is no way the local government would have been unaware of the results of these tests. They are poisoning us. We recommend using a carbon water filter if you have the ability to do so. We will later discuss the adverse health effects of the contaminants in our water.

Look up your local water system to find out which pollutants might be of concern, and find suggestions on the best kinds of home filters to remove those chemicals.

Do you know what's in your tap water? We believe you should, and so we've created this page to bring awareness to residents of Allen County about what exactly is in our tap water. We hope to enact change at the local, state, and federal levels, advocating for the right to safe water for all. Our goal is to work with policymakers to change how we receive and treat the water that we all drink, use to cook, shower, and bathe in, and that our children consume. This is a community ran organization. This will be a long process, and volunteers can feel free to reach out to see how they can help.
