Reminder — Colony Surf Brush & Branches Clearing Day is just one week away.

The chipper crew will be in the neighborhood Thursday, May 28 for one day only to help reduce wildfire risk and support our Firewise USA® efforts.

Please have all vegetation placed roadside by Monday evening, May 25.

Quick reminders:
• Keep piles under 4 feet tall
• Branches must be under 6 inches in diameter
• Place cut ends facing the direction shown on the attached map
• No rocks, metal, stumps, dirt, leaves, or non-vegetative debris

As you prepare your piles, take a look at the vegetation within the 0–5 ft and 5–30 ft ignition zones around your home. Small cleanup efforts make a big difference in wildfire safety.

Please also complete a Firewise Activity Form for the time spent preparing your property. Your participation helps maintain Colony Surf’s Firewise Community certification and supports future grant funding.

Thank you for helping keep Colony Surf safer, cleaner, and more wildfire ready.

Colony Surf Brush & Branches Clearing Day is Coming

The chipper crew will be in the neighborhood Thursday, May 28 for one day only to help us reduce wildfire risk and keep Colony Surf Firewise USA® strong.

Now is the perfect time to clear out dead brush, overgrown limbs, and excess vegetation around your home. Every branch removed helps create a safer, more fire-resilient community for all of us.

Important Dates:
• Earliest pile placement: Friday, May 1
• All piles must be roadside by Monday evening, May 25
• Chipping day: Thursday, May 28

Accepted:
• Branches and brush under 6" diameter
• Piles under 4' tall
• Cut ends facing the direction shown on the attached map for safe and efficient chipping

Please DO NOT include:
• Rocks, metal, trash, or non-vegetative debris
• Leaves, twigs, burned materials, dirt-covered vegetation, root balls, or stumps
• Large tree material (please contact me first)

As you prepare your property, take a look at the 0–5 ft and 5–30 ft ignition zones around your home. Small changes can make a huge difference during wildfire season.

Please also complete a Firewise Activity Form for the time you spend preparing vegetation. Your participation helps maintain our Firewise Community certification and supports future grant funding.

Not sure what qualifies? I’m happy to stop by and help.

Together, we’re making Colony Surf safer, cleaner, and more wildfire ready.
