OUR GOALS:
Garden Isle Jr. Dragsters “Racing Toward the Future” Incentives Program promotes and facilitates the education of safe driving in our youths 8 to 17 years of age while inviting them to engage in the opportunity to race their half-scale dragsters in a controlled environment at Kauai Raceway Park, an NHRA (National Hot Rod Association) sanctioned track. In addition to the excitement of racing these half-scale dragsters at speeds of 60+ miles per hour down a 1/8-mile track, the youths are eligible for many incentives, awards, activities and opportunities to travel and compete off-island providing they meet the academic requirement of maintaining a 2.0 GPA (grade point average) with a "C" or better in all core subjects. Dragsters "Academic Excellence" Award Incentive is intended to motivate each child to "Hit the Schoolbooks as hard as they Hit the Gas Pedal" and help them succeed both on and off the track. Dragsters also encourages community project participation, engages in team-building activities and creates a family-oriented environment. The future plans of Garden Isle Jr. Dragsters are to continue growing our educational driven program with the hopes of making a difference in these young lives and their future. As a non-profit organization, the Garden Isle Jr. Dragsters depends on individuals, community and business donations and our fundraising events to help defray the costs of our year-round youth incentive programs. The success of our endeavors is greatly attributable to our sponsors whose names and support are acknowledged in our organization's promotional advertising, community events and at our monthly races at the Kaua'i Raceway Park, which draw local, neighboring islands, and out-of-state spectators and participants.
