Did You Know…?
Today is K-9 Veterans Day!

This is a day to honor and remember the service dogs who serve active-duty military. These four-legged furry friends are vets, not pets, who put their lives on the line in service alongside their human compatriots, detecting bombs and protecting the troops.

They deserve respect and recognition not just today but every day, as they help make sure those serving make it back safely while also providing companionship upon retirement, often for wounded veterans and their families.

We are so proud of Libertyville VFW Post 8741's essay winners, Christin Griffith and Shidong Yan! Tonight at the VFW Illinois District 5 Awards Banquet, Christin was awarded 3rd place for her Patriot's Pen essay and Shidong was awarded 3rd place for his Voice of Democracy essay.

Here are photos of a billiard mechanic funded by Libertyville VFW Auxiliary 8741, at work setting up a billiard table moved to Lovell FHCC. We have been working hard to help provide recreational activities to our local veterans.
