11,500+ members affected by outages currently. Systems Control, line crews, engineering teams, and more are actively working to restore power across the system.
We're glad to see the number trend down from earlier, but winter storms like these can cause seemingly random outages as the weight of accumulated ice breaks trees and equipment over time.
🦺 Downed powerlines are still a concern along with trees making contact with lines and creating a path to ground for electricity. If you are outside, stay aware of these situations to protect yourself.
MTE works to educate members about these dangers through our Hotline Demonstration trailer. With ice on the road and trees breaking lines, we wanted to share these safety videos for you.
This YouTube playlist outlines how to stay safe in these scenarios:
1️⃣ What to do if your vehicle runs into a power line
2️⃣ How high voltage affects the body
3️⃣ The dangers of step potential
4️⃣ What happens when a ladder contacts power line
