EAA 612 would like to thank everyone who attended the Aviation Merit Badge event for the American Heritage Girls today! We had a great time inspiring the next generation of aviators! What beautiful weather, too. ✨

EAA 612 Chapter members and friends,

Tomorrow, April 21st, is our monthly EAA 612 Chapter meeting at Roosterville airport (0N0). As usual, we'll hold our potluck dinner starting at 6pm, with the meeting to begin after food is served. Bring a dish to share, and enjoy the mild weather at the airport.

Our safety presentation this month will be delivered by Don Halbert of the FAA Safety Team. Don will tell us all about the recently passed MOSAIC rule, and how it changes privileges for pilots flying under Sport Pilot rules, as well as changes to aircraft that can be registered in the Light Sport category. MOSAIC also has implications for owner-maintenance of experimental aircraft, and Don will explain it all to us.

We hope to you see there!

Chapter 612 members and friends,

Take a look at our event calendar for 2026! Notable events include the American Heritage Girls aviation badge event, and of course our two Young Eagles rallies for the year! Mark your calendars.

And of course, join us at the Roosterville airport pilot lounge next Tuesday evening, 6pm, for our monthly potluck dinner and member meeting. Pilots and enthusiasts welcome! After the meeting, there will be a discussion of tailwheel flying techniques and training requirements.

See you there!

Chapter 612 members and friends,

It looks like our Young Eagles Rally scheduled for Sep 14th may be a "go" after all! Chris St Germain has contacted several Chapter 91 pilots and managed to round up some volunteer pilots! (Thank you Chris!) With their help, we've got enough seats to get the 27 registered kids flown. I know we talked about canceling the rally, but we're positioned to drive ahead as planned.

Thomas Creel will be overall point man on the rally, and will be organizing the efforts of the pilots and ground crew. We had several people raise their hands at the last meeting as available to work ground during the rally, and now we need to confirm those folks and get everyone sync'd.

If you can work ground crew for the rally please respond to this post. I'll ensure you are added to the volunteer list and receive all the coordination emails. We really need about 2-3 more people to make things go off smoothly, so here's your chance to get in on the action and contribute!

Please respond by Wednesday. We're setting final coordination this week, and need an accurate headcount. A big thank you to everyone who volunteers, in advance :-)

Chapter 612 Members and Friends,

Tomorrow, Tuesday July 16th, is our next monthly meeting at Roosterville airport. We will finalize chapter plans to attend AirVenture next week, including plans for camping together as a group and traveling to the show. If you are attending Oshkosh, this is the final opportunity to coordinate the details.

We'll also hold a discussion of summertime flying including hot weather effects, density altitude and humidity, and afternoon thunderstorms and winds. This is a good chance to remind ourselves of the challenges summer brings to pilots in the midwest.

Potluck dinner starts at 6pm, with the meeting at 6:30pm. Bring a dish, and bring a friend!

Chapter 612 Friends,

Tomorrow is our monthly chapter meeting - usual time (6pm), same place (Roosterville Airport)! With the hot weather settled in for good it's going to be a burger and brat burn for dinner, so bring a dish to compliment the grill.

We have a few items to discuss for the meeting, including finalizing Oshkosh plans, the Summer Young Eagles Rally coming up next weekend, and a review of the chapter work day. The Young Eagles Rally is not looking good due to lack of pilots, so we'll make a final call on canceling the event or pressing ahead.

To keep everyone sharp, Kirk and I will lead a discussion titled "A Tale of Two Taildraggers", where we'll explore the handling differences among taildragger (aka "conventional gear" or "tailwheel" airplanes) vs the more common tri-gear airframes.

Bring a dish, bring something for the grill (if you like), and bring a friend! See you all tomorrow at Roosterville!
