ATTN: Lance Corporal Sean Willey es**rt, 28-29JUL23: Hayesville, NC to Ilion, NY.

The quick backstory FYSA: The scattered remains of Marine Sean Wiley were found last year along the Appalachian Trail near Hayesville. A lengthy investigation ruled out foul play or su***de but the exact cause of death was not determined. For reasons unknown, Sean’s parents did not want anything to do with Sean or the effort to return Sean’s remains. So the focus became coordinating an es**rt of Sean’s remains from Hayesville to his estranged wife and 4-year old son in Ilion, NY. It’s my understanding the local funeral home first contacted the Marine Corps League (MCL) for help who contacted the local ALR for motorcycle es**rt support who then contacted the local CVMA® (Scout, NC 15-8). He was asked if he could get more CVMA involved; which he did. Now he is leading this ride!

This es**rt ride has grown into quite a large ride since Scout first brought this to me a couple of weeks ago. There are at least 16 CVMA chapters from 8 states currently riding this 900 mile es**rt from Hayesville, NC to Ilion, NY. This doesn’t include riders from the ALR, PGR, MCL, Leathernecks and other clubs/groups. It's fully es**rted by LEOs. The MCL is running PR to have the public and media present at the stops. Some of the SRs Scout coordinated with are riding, as well as Preacherman from the NBOD staff. With the help of REAPER and MADMAX (PA SR), 15-8 deconflicted the one known area of concern with the dominate in southern PA.

On Friday 28 Jul, the ride departs Hayesville at 0900 towards our first stop in Asheville where 15-7 will join us then head north on I-26 to pick up I-81 most of the way to Ilion. Other state chapters will also join along the way. I'm attaching the map Scout made showing the route, stops, addresses, timeline, & chapters involved.
