Camps For Kids ended its summer with a visit to Wonderland Camp. This last summer session for children with physical and developmental disabilities had a pirate and mermaid theme. The week included not only traditional summer camp activities (climbing wall, swimming, archery, crafts, and more) but a poolside visit from a mermaid and a cruise on a pirate ship. Talk about fun! And a perfect summer sendoff.

Wildwood Camp is another favorite stop of Camp For Kids during the summer. This camp combines a traditional summer camp experience with programs that build confidence, social and emotional skills, and a love of the outdoors. Campers paddle canoes, catch fish, splash in the pool, hike on trails, sing around a campfire, make new friends—and so much more! Including reading -- reading time is built into the camp schedule and campers are encouraged to collect points to earn tokens for the book vending machine. 📖 😍

🎪✨ Step Right Up for Camp Wilderness! ✨🎪 Camps For Kids recently visited Camp Wilderness, a special camp serving children with blood disorders. This year's theme, "Under the Big Top," came to life the moment campers arrived, thanks to a camp director fully committed to the role of Ringmaster! 🎩🎪

From swimming and fishing to campfires under the stars, campers enjoyed all the classic summer camp adventures, with a circus-inspired twist. The fun continued with exciting circus games, laughter-filled activities, and even action-packed paintball skirmishes. It was a week filled with friendship, confidence, and unforgettable memories!

Camps For Kids visited Camp Quality - Greater Kansas City earlier this week and we're still shaking the fairy dust from our hair. Their theme was Enchanted Forest and you could feel the magic in the air. This special summer camp serves kids who have or have had cancer and their siblings. They do it all: fishing, swimming, crafts, archery, campfires. And kickball, which featured some special guests -- the Independence Police, who turned out to engage with the kids and add to the fun. Camps For Kids recently had the pleasure of visiting Camp MITIOG, serving kids with spina bifida. This camp provides traditional summer camp activities adapted to campers with physical disabilities. We watched the campers hone their archery skills under the supervision of a former Paralympian. We visited with campers trying their hand at fishing. And we talked to volunteers and staff who are so passionate and committed to this camp, they come back year after year after year. We had a blast visiting Alphapointe Adventure Camp. This camp offers a traditional, overnight camp experience for kids with vision impairment or loss. Any summer camp activity you can think of, these kids do it: climb the rock wall, zipline, swim, ride horses, and do archery. Perhaps the campers' greatest discovery, however, is the community they find among peers with similar challenges. Do you know who can build a website and advise you on cybersecurity? The campers at Alphapointe Technology Camp can. Camps For Kids visited this camp for KC kids with vision impairment or loss last week and watched them present the websites they had created from scratch. After only 1 week of camp! In addition to learning how to create a website, campers also learned about cybersecurity and how to avoid the traps set by cybercriminals. In addition to fun with technology, this camp introduces campers to the opportunities that may await them in the technology industry. Camps For Kids dropped in on Camp Fire Heartland in KCK to see what the kids were up to. This summer Camp Fire Heartland is serving up STEM opportunities for the campers. The day we visited, the kids were making paper mache planets. The campers researched the planets in our solar system, made posters promoting tourism to their planet of choice, and now were making the planets. "Ninja learning" was what the camp director called it — slipping STEM education into camp fun.
