Singer Spotlight Saturday: Paul Weatherford, bass

All about Paul: "My wife, Marlene, and I have been married for 52 years. We have three adult children and six grandchildren. I am a retired Kansas City, MO police officer, retiring at the rank of Captain in 2010. We enjoy traveling and I like to garden, do yard work and community volunteer work. We have enjoyed Starlight Theater as season ticket holders for many years!

My interest in singing developed at an early age being around my mother’s side of our family at a little country church called Bacon Chapel in Shelby County Missouri! I remember many summer Sundays singing and having picnics with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins! I sang in high school in chorus, small ensemble groups and musical theatre productions. My wife and I have been singing in our church choir for 36 years at Gashland Evangelical Church in Kansas City.

You may notice my Luis Palau shirt. I sang with a mass choir at the evangelistic campaign here in Kansas City many years ago. If I remember correctly there were 500+ singers in the choir! It would be interesting to know if any other current LCC singers were also in that mass choir!"

Our Artistic Director, Bryan Taylor, is ready to welcome you on Saturday to the "I Hear America Singing" choral festival at the Community of Christ Church in Independence. The FREE concert is at 3pm.
