🔴This month's Invasive Species is: The Spotted Lanternfly🔴
🪨These planthoppers arrived in Pike County PA in 2016 on a stone shipment and have since spread to 15 states throughout the eastern United states.
SLF damages and kills more than 70 plant species - including crops like apples and grapes, and adults produce sooty mold which attracts stinging insects.
If you see SLF squash them! Also, scrape off their brownish gray egg masses (pictured above) which can be found on many surfaces like trees, patio furniture, stones, or logs.
🔎If you find them, report to iMapInvasives, or visit CRISP.org for ways to manage!
This grant is supported by the State’s Environmental Protection Fund and administered by Department of Environmental Conservation’s Invasive Species and Ecosystem Health Program.
