Joy To Be Bald The 16th Annual Joy to be Bald fundraiser is Sunday, October 5th! Please join us for Walk-A-Thon @ 11 AM at Walker School, then on to Lake St.

George Brewing at 12:30 for Bake-Off, Memory Basket Raffle and Head Shaving! Annual Joy to be Bald fundraiser. This annual fundraiser for local cancer victims originated as a fundraiser for Joy Mehuren, organized by Lori Mayer of Lori's Cafe in Liberty, Maine. Joy lost her fight against cancer on July 6 2011, and in her honor the event has lived on to continue to help other cancer victims. This ye

ar's events will include another benefit walk-a-thon in Liberty ending at Lori's Cafe, a LIVE AUCTION, t-shirt sales, and much more! Come walk for cancer on Sunday October 15!! Proceeds to benefit Stephanie Lunt and Wilma Barnsley, both local ladies battling lung cancer, and their families.

WOW - JUST WOW!! What an AMAZING and emotional Day! Thank you doesn't seem adequate - for ALL those who sponsored,
donated, walked, cooked and baked, contributed in any way and those who showed up today or volunteered, we are so humbled by your kindness and generosity. We live in an amazing community. 🩷

A special thank you to Lake St. George Brewing Company for hosting the event again this year, to Micki Lee Knowles of Wolf Den Karaoke who donated DJ and karaoke for us 🩷 (as well entering the Cookoff in 2 categories!), and Lisa and Bill Gillespie of the Liberty Fire Department for again making sure our walk was safe.

We could not do what we do without the support of the community around us.

Walk-A-Thon: Registration is at 10:30am - 11:00 am at Walker Elementary School in Liberty. Walk-A-Thon begins a 11:00 am and goes to the Liberty Fire Department. Get a pledge sheet here, at Lori's Cafe or at Totman's in Belmont.

Head Shaving: We will wrap up with head shaving for those brave souls willing to give up their hair. If you would like to shave your head in solidarity, grab a pledge sheet here:

Our Story

Proceeds to benefit Charlie Adams of Liberty and also an anonymous local person, plus other local families struggling with cancer throughout the year.
