Today is Giving Tuesday and this is one awesome way to Give Where You Live so that dollars stay local and help others right here in our community!

Introducing the McCashland-Weaver Community Heart Unrestricted Endowment Fund

The Union County Foundation is grateful to announce a new fund created by Kathy Walker in memory of her dear friends and fellow Union County Public Library board members, Carol Reynolds-McCashland and Debbie Weaver.

Kathy shared how much joy she found serving alongside Carol and Debbie—how their friendship, humor, and shared love for the library made every meeting something to look forward to. Regarding Carol, she said she wishes she had met her sooner so that they could be friends even longer, and joked that if she and Carol had met earlier, they probably would’ve gotten kicked out of school for having too much fun together. Debbie and Kathy worked side by side for many years at Union County Middle School, where their treasured friendship began.

By creating this fund, Kathy hopes to honor the legacy these two amazing women left in our community. Their commitment to literacy, learning, and the people of Union County will continue to make a difference for years to come.

We are honored to help carry forward Carol and Debbie’s impact through the McCashland-Weaver Community Heart Unrestricted Endowment Fund.

If you would like to make a contribution to this fund in memory of Carol or Debbie, your donation will be tripled through the end of the year!

PROUD is an understatement! With 3 days to go, we surpassed our $50,000 goal! This is because of each and every one of you! We currently have raised $52,280 and secured our matching grant! Everything above our $50,000 goal will go towards the next amphitheater project, which is the installation of tiered seating. Way to go UC! Congratulations Union County Parks and Recreation!

If you would like to make a donation you can still do so here: Patronicity.com/UCPark until the 28th! Thank you so much for your contributions and continuing to share.

So incredibly proud of our community!!

So incredibly proud of our community!!

Less than three weeks ago, nearly $20,000 was still needed in donations to make the UC Nature Park amphitheater a reality. Staying true to tradition, the community rallied. With five days left to reach the $50,000 goal, donations have now climbed to an outstanding $49,595. The additional $405 has to be raised by Oct. 29.

"The outpouring of support from our community has been overwhelming in the most heartwarming way," said Olivia Chewning. "Their support of the UC Nature Park and UC Parks and Rec Board is phenomenal and such a promising glimpse of what our community's future looks like. When we all come together with a common goal, we truly make a huge difference in what we can accomplish."

If the money is raised in time, Union County Special Projects will receive a $50,000 match from the Indiana Housing & Community Development Authority. Then, the $100,000 will go towards a fantastic project that will continue to strengthen the community.

"It's truly amazing to see that in just 60 days—I can say this because I am confident we will reach our goal— we have raised $50,000 (and maybe even a little more) because we worked together," Chewning said. "The impact this project will have on our community is priceless, and it happened because we all invested a little of our own resources, whether it was an investment of time or treasure, to make a big impact. "

With the clock ticking, there are two ways to help make this dream a reality.
•Make a donation! To donate, visit Patronicity.com/UCPark
•Spread the word! To stay current on the progress, follow UC Special Projects at www.facebook.com/UCSpecialProjects and encourage your friends and family to donate.

"Any funds raised above and beyond our $50,000 goal needed to receive the matching grant from IHCDA will be used for the next phase of the amphitheater project, which is the installation of tiered seating," Chewning shared.

The outpouring support from the community this weekend has been phenomenal. It feels so good to see the community united in making the amphitheater come to life. We are sooooo close to reaching our goal! We need to raise $4,700 and have 6 days to do so. Thank you so much to everyone who has contributed both monetarily and by sharing our posts. Please continue to do so as we work hard these final days! Union County Parks and Recreation

I wanted to take a moment and share this awesome picture I was able to snap during Union County Parks and Recreation board meeting this week. Here are some of the board members working so hard to bring the UC Nature Park to life. I took this picture standing on the nature scape. From this view you can see the basketball court (immediatly left), pickle ball courts (to the left of the basket ball court), as well as the bowl of the amphitheater behind the group. Things are happening and it is so exctied to actually see the progress! Thank you so much to this board and their volunteers for their committment and hard work.

With that being said, we are still working to raise the remaing funds needed to meet our match goal for the amphitheater. We still need to raise $7,500 to reach our goal. We cannot receive the $50,000 matching grant from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority if we do not first raise the remaining $7,500. We only have 9 days to do this.

You can help in two ways:
1. Make a donation! ANY amount is so helpful in getting us to our goal, and shows what we can do as a community when we all come together. You can donate here: Patronicity.com/UCPark
2. Share this post and encourage your friends and family to give as well!

Thank you to all who have donated so far, and continue to share and help spread the word! It is making a huge difference!
