Our Story
Afghans for Angels Liberty Twp OH Chapter is an organization of volunteers who make and distribute baby afghans/blankets to hospitals to give to parents who have suffered the loss of their baby due to miscarriage, stillbirth or babies that live a short time. We need volunteers who are willing to crochet, knit, sew, or quilt.
Afghans/blankets can be as small as 14”x14”, as large as 36”x36” and any side in between. Squares work better for our purpose, but rectangular shapes are accepted. Please use pastel colors, white, cream or variegated pastels for crocheted/knitted afghans and similar shades of fabrics for blankets. If you don’t crochet/knit or sew, there are directions for no sew blankets available online (ex: fleece fabrics that are cut along the edges and tied). Larger quilts/blankets can be cut down to make several smaller ones.
We donate these baby afghans/blankets to area hospitals and have even donated out-of-state by having one of our volunteers deliver them on their travels. Our mission is to provide a little comfort to these families at a most difficult time in their lives.
We you’ve prefer to help in another way, we accept donations of new gallon size storage bags as each afghan/blanket is placed in a bag with the measurement written on the outside before being donated to hospitals. This helps keeps them clean and the size allows the nurses in Labor and Delivery or the Emergency Room to determine which afghan/blanket is most appropriate.
