🌱 Spring Break Garden Help – Mustard Seed Project LHTX

Spring break is next week and we’re planning a few garden cleanup and prep days at the Mustard Seed Project with XXL HOPE

If you or your students have some free time and would enjoy spending a few hours outdoors helping in the gardens, we would absolutely love the extra hands!

This is a great opportunity for:
• Volunteer service hours
• Helping with garden prep and spring planting
• Getting involved in a hands-on community project

Our gardens are where local youth learn to plan, grow, harvest, and sell produce through the Mustard Seed Project and our Young Entrepreneur program at The Market LHTX.

🐓 New this year: we’ve also added chicken keeping, giving students a chance to learn about caring for animals and how small homesteads work together with gardens.

🌿 If you’re home for spring break and don’t have much going on, come spend a few hours with us!

Students who enjoy the garden work may also have the opportunity to stay involved and participate in a summer internship through the Mustard Seed Project as we grow produce and products for the market.

Imagine this.

In every neighborhood, every yard leaves just one corner untouched.
A small patch of stems and seedheads.
Clover. Goldenrod. Milkweed.

Within a single season, those small spaces begin to matter.
They provide food and shelter where pollinators live, rest, and reproduce.
And when enough of them exist, close enough together,
they start to function as a network—
stepping stones that help pollinators move through human landscapes.

No laws.
No committees.
No waiting for permission.

Just people making a simple choice:
to leave a little room,
and let nature breathe again.

You’re going to see a few videos of donations today that are pretty impressive. They’ll take the right buyer, and that may take time—but I want to pause and share something far more important: God’s beauty and provision.

Yesterday was hard.

We went from one show that was incredible because of the people—it filled my heart, not the register. It was community-driven, and that mattered. A few hours later, we headed to another show I truly believed would be successful for the store. It wasn’t. Long drive, new location, new audience… and honestly, a bust financially.

Still, it wasn’t wasted. We learned. We networked. And side note—we’re now bringing in the most amazing honey and a new candle line because of it.

But last night, I laid in bed praying for miracles. Praying for this mission to stay alive.

This morning, when I came into the shop, there were three items waiting for me to research and price. As I slowed down and intentionally examined every detail, I felt something deeper than gratitude. I felt God clearly say, “I’ve got you.”

Moments like that are reminders—it isn’t my work sustaining this. It’s His.

The right buyer may take time. But that’s never the point. The point is knowing He sees our needs, and provision comes exactly when this store—and our nonprofit partners—need it most. And when it does, we will give thanks.

To the donor-whether you wish to be named or remain anonymous—thank you. Your trust, your generosity, and your decision to choose us matters more than you know.

And to every single person who pulls into this parking lot, walks through these doors, and trusts us with your items or your support—we are deeply honored. Truly.
