A student stepped into the Keeneland storefront as a jockey, groom, or guest services representative, ready to take on the responsibilities of a day at the races.
They sold tickets, welcomed guests, cared for horses behind the scenes, and, of course, they had the chance to wear the iconic Keeneland green jacket, giving them an authentic glimpse into one of the most recognizable traditions in the racing industry.

They walked out with something more valuable than a completed job assignment.

Junior Achievement BizTown puts students inside real workplaces where they can explore careers, build professional skills, and understand how successful local businesses operate. Experiences like this don't happen without investment from community partners. 🎉 Junior Achievement BizTown is officially open for the 2026-27 school year!

We were thrilled to welcome Crawford Middle School as the first school to kick off another exciting year of hands-on learning.

Junior Achievement BizTown combines classroom instruction with a day-long visit to a simulated town, where students operate banks, manage businesses, vote for mayor, and experience what it's like to be part of a thriving community. This immersive experience helps students connect what they learn in school to the real world.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Wayne Martin, a JA Bluegrass Business Hall of Fame Laureate.

Wayne was a true Kentucky leader whose influence extended far beyond his distinguished career in athletics and broadcasting. From his time as a Morehead State University basketball coach to his years leading WKYT and WYMT television stations and his countless contributions to organizations across the Commonwealth, Wayne dedicated his life to serving others and strengthening the communities he called home.

His leadership, generosity, and commitment to Kentucky has left a lasting mark on countless lives. He was inducted into the JA Bluegrass Business Hall of Fame in 2003, and we are grateful for the legacy he leaves behind.

Our thoughts are with Wayne’s family, friends, colleagues, and the many people who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him. Thank you for a lifetime of leadership and service, Wayne. Your legacy will live on.

Do you love working with students and want to help bring career exploration, financial literacy, and real-world experiences to life? Junior Achievement of the Bluegrass is looking for part-time team members to join our Experiential Learning Center (ELC) team!

As an ELC Team Member, you’ll help bring Junior Achievement BizTown and Junior Achievment Finance Park to life for local students by:
✨ Supporting simulation days and creating a quality experience for every student
✨ Assisting the ELC Team Lead with daily operations
✨ Helping ensure a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment
✨ Supporting the day-to-day operations of the ELC
📅 Part-time: 12–24 hours per week
📍 Minimum availability: 2 days per week
⏰ Typical hours: 8:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m., during the school week
Schedules may vary based on school and bus schedules.
