With a historic mansion filled with an incomparable collection, original outbuildings, gardens, official arboretum, historic paths, museum store, and seasonal café, Ashland offers an experience of wonder and discovery. Highly rated guided tours focus on various aspects of the estate’s history: Henry Clay and his legacy, slavery at Ashland, and the women of Ashland. Founded in 1926 and operated as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) by the Henry Clay Memorial Foundation, the museum opened its doors to the public in 1950. From Henry Clay’s lifetime to ours today, Ashland has been a community and national treasure.

History comes alive TODAY at Ashland! Join us from 10 am until 5 pm for a special day filled with storytelling, demonstrations, craftsmanship and living traditions.

Living History at Ashland favorites return again year and include United States Colored Troops, a Saddlebred display, Indigenous history, an Indigenous jewelry and craft maker, the Kentucky Women’s History Alliance, a wet-plate photographer, and a wood turner. Elizabeth Lawson will also return, portraying Charlotte Dupuy, Henry Clay’s enslaved cook who sued him for her freedom.

New this year, the Kentucky American Indian Resource and Community Center will showcase Indigenous beadwork, leatherwork, weapons and drumming.

Main Stage:
🥁 11 am — Native American Drumming
🎭 12:30 pm — Charlotte Dupuy Chautauqua
👩‍🏫 3:30 pm — Kentucky Women’s History Alliance
