The Dickerson Children's Advocacy Center (DCAC) is a non-profit CAC providing therapeutic and investigative services to abused children and their families.

The mission of the Dickerson Children's Advocacy Center is to provide comprehensive assessment and treatment services to physically and sexually abused children ages 0-18 years throughout the Midlands of South Carolina.

On October 9, our team joined New Bridge Academy and members of Three Rivers for an ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) training! 💙

Continued learning and collaboration help us better understand how childhood experiences impact long-term well-being and strengthen our ability to support children and families in our community. We’re grateful for opportunities like these to grow together and further our shared commitment to helping children thrive!

A child’s well-being is closely connected to the safety and support they experience at home. During Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we’re reminded of the importance of creating safe environments where children and families can access the help they need. Supporting children means listening without judgment, responding with compassion, and connecting families with appropriate resources. Every child deserves to grow up surrounded by safety, stability, and care.

Strong relationships are built in the little moments. 💛 Listening without distractions, keeping promises, making time for one-on-one conversations, and letting children know their feelings matter can help them feel safe, supported, and connected. You don’t have to make every moment extraordinary. Sometimes, simply showing up consistently makes all the difference. What’s one little way you make time to connect with the children in your life?

Yesterday was tournament day! ⛳️ We are hitting the green for a cause that means so much to us: protecting children and helping families find hope and healing. Thank you to every golfer, sponsor, volunteer, and supporter who makes our annual Fore the Children Golf Tournament possible. Your generosity helps DCAC continue providing compassionate services to children and families throughout our community. Here’s to a wonderful day on the course and an even greater impact off of it!

Last week, our Family Advocacy team was honored to welcome fellow victim advocates to the Dickerson Children’s Advocacy Center for the kickoff of our quarterly victim advocate meetings.

These gatherings provide an opportunity to strengthen partnerships, share resources and information, and support one another in our shared commitment to serving victims and their families.

We are grateful for the dedication and collaboration of the advocates who joined us from Batesburg-Leesville Police Department, Department of Homeland Security, Columbia Police Department, Cayce Police Department, Irmo Police Department, the Eleventh Judicial Circuit Family Court, and Edgefield County Sheriff's Office.

A special thank you to the West Columbia Starbucks located at 2505 Sunset Blvd. who generously provided coffee and pastries in sponsorship of this event. We look forward to continuing this important work together.

💙 Want to make a difference for children this week? Start here. You don't have to be a child welfare professional to help create a safer community. 1. Check in. Ask a child in your life how they're really doing. 2. Listen. Give them your attention without immediately trying to fix the problem. 3. Learn. Take time to learn about child abuse prevention and the resources available in your community. Small actions can create safer, stronger communities.
