💙 Griffin Update 💙

Griffin will begin his NG tube feeds again today, and the team will continue closely monitoring his comfort level. They are also stopping his steroids.

Please keep all of the staff on Griffin’s transplant team in your prayers today. A small group of transplant team members will be carefully reviewing his chart, including his labs,ultrasounds, echocardiograms, and more. They will be building his presentation today and presenting it to the larger cardiac committee tomorrow to determine whether Griffin is eligible for a heart transplant.

Please be intentional in your prayers today. Pray for wisdom, clarity, discernment, and guidance for every person involved in this decision. Most importantly, I pray that God will lead their decisions and their voices, because He knows the plan He has for Griffin.

We are trusting God through every step of this journey and believing that Griffin is in His hands.
Thank you all so much for your continued prayers, love, support, and encouragement. We are so incredibly grateful for each and every one of you.

Today was hard… I can’t even sugar coat it…It was the longest day ever and it was terrible… Ella cried a lot during the test ..she was in pain, nauseous, retching… there was absolutely nothing I could do but sit there and watch holding my own tears back and feel helpless for almost 9 hours…

I just keep asking why?… Why does she have to deal with all of this…This isn’t fair … When is enough , enough 💔..

We are back in her room… They gave her pain meds and she is finally sleeping comfortably…I don’t know how much more my heart can take… Please pray this paves a path to get her back to where she was before… I am just so so sad!!!!!

All the details that I know as of now…Please keep praying 💔

The intestinal team consulted with the liver doctors about Ella’s ultrasound results… The results read that Ella’s liver was enlarged which I wasn’t concerned about at all but then it continued to say that the liver had increased hepatic echogenicity with a diffuse parenchymal process which is disease of the functional tissue of the liver …and not just a part of the liver it was the entire liver …my heart sank.. The liver doctor who read the results with Ella’s motility team said this is what they see with patients who were on TPN (IV nutrition) for a long time as you know Ella was TPN dependent for 8 years…I knew it could affect the liver but I was hopeful it wouldn’t happen to Ella …

So what do we do with the liver… Nothing… we know it’s there… we watch it and we always make sure that Ella’s liver numbers are stable… and if they ever become unstable we will cross that path at that time…

The not so good news… The stomach pain, the nausea, the vomiting of bile…We need to meet with the surgery team…The only way to see what’s going on with the bowel is to go in surgically… The only way to see If scar tissue from her last 2 surgeries has wrapped around any surrounding organs is to go in surgically…Her surgeon has done every single surgery that she’s ever had… So all the bowel work is his work…so he knows how it should look in there…I don’t want this for her… hasn’t she gone through enough?… I’m sad, I’m angry, I just want everything to be ok…Another surgery was not what we wanted….We won’t see the surgeon until next week after she has all her cardiology testing…If Ella gets worse before we see her surgeon we were told to go right to the ER…
