What a fun—and incredibly educational—meeting this week!

Our TableTopics challenged us to think on our feet, stay calm under pressure, and respond to some seriously difficult (and unavoidable!) questions, such as “What’s your Social Security number?”

By the end of the meeting, everyone seemed to agree on one thing: This was an AMAZING meeting!...and wondering…
if there was something special in the water we drank that evening🥤

That’s the magic of Toastmasters—learning, laughing, building confidence, and getting better together!

It was a privilege to be invited by the Young Professionals Employee Resource Group (YP ERG) leadership team at Toyota in Georgetown—the largest Toyota manufacturing plant in the world!

Some of our members, along with Charlie from our neighboring club, Midway Toastmasters (thank you for joining us!), had a wonderful time sharing our club and the Toastmasters experience with the YP members.

The YP members were engaged, interactive, and asked some great questions during the Q&A. We hope that they walked away with a simple message:

You don't have to be the loudest person in the room to be a strong leader. You just need the confidence to speak up, connect, and make your ideas heard.

What a wonderful Lexington Toastmasters meeting! 🎤👏

We had a fantastic evening with our members and a guest, starting with a new member induction ceremony. Welcome to the club, Kindness! 🎉

We had two amazing speeches! Dr. Chee showed us how to navigate the Toastmasters Pathways and reminded us that success doesn’t always have to be forceful. Sometimes, the best way forward is a different approach.

Our second speaker, Donna, bravely delivered a semi-impromptu speech that was truly inspiring. Our emotions throughout the speech were definitely on a roller coaster!

Our TableTopicsmaster was Teresa, who also took on the role of General Evaluator. We loved hearing her insights and wisdom about Toastmasters. And fun fact: Teresa is the longest-standing member of our club! 👏

We also had two wonderful evaluators: Diana evaluated Dr. Chee’s speech, and Kindness bravely jumped into the evaluator role for Donna’s speech. Both evaluations were thoughtful and proactive. Diana won the vote with her hilarious Taekwondo move inspired by Dr. Chee’s speech! 🥋

No picture from Table Topics because Sooksai was too busy getting nervous about being called on! 🤣 But congratulations to Qi, who won the vote for Table Topic of the night! 🏆

After the regular meeting, we held an executive meeting with a heated—but full of laughs discussion as we prepared our agenda for presenting to 50 young engineers next week. We’re so excited about our first outreach project! 🚀

Back-to-school potluck!

New member induction - Congratulations, Christina! Welcome to the club 🎤

Two fantastic prepared speakers: Christina shared "The songs that built us," & Leslie taught us different communication styles.

Then we had fun with TableTopics Marathon! Kindness answered the question, "What would you do if you were a principal for one day?" and won the oven! Unfortunately, we forgot to get a picture, but we're expecting her to put that oven to good use and bring us an amazing chicken dish at the next potluck 🍗 😄

And yes... we had another successful potluck! The food was so good that we were too busy eating and chatting to remember to take a picture of the buffet table. Shobana, your food is still the best! Sooksai needs to up her game next time! 😀

**Even a Thunderstorm Couldn’t Stop Us!**

We had a wonderful meeting tonight despite a thunderstorm! Several members joined us virtually, and we even came up with a plan to make our hybrid meetings better. Our President has tons of experience in media, so we’re expecting to see a moving camera in the near future! 😉

This is a learning process—and we’re learning together 😊

Tonight’s theme was “Influence Without Authority,” and our Word of the Day was “Kinetic”—perfectly in line with the stormy weather! ⚡

Our Toastmaster of the Day, Donna, kept the "Kinetic" energy moving throughout the meeting and influenced us to stay engaged from beginning to end.

We also welcomed a guest who is a senior college student majoring in finance and was brave enough to jump right into TableTopics! We’re always excited to see new faces and hear what brings people to Lexington Toastmasters!

The meeting ended with Keith, our President, bringing us some exciting news!

This was the only photo we managed to take from this week's meeting—which can only mean one thing: we had another fantastic meeting! (😄 because Sooksai was too busy laughing and fully engaged in the speeches to remember to take more pictures!)

Even with several members away on vacation, we enjoyed two outstanding Icebreaker speeches from our newest members.

**Christina** shared a story from her childhood about mandatory school running—something she once disliked but later transformed into a lifelong lesson in perseverance and growth that ultimately helped her earn an Executive Director position.

**Andrei** took us back to when he was 17, working in a factory in his home country. He shared the hilarious yet meaningful story of how he handled discovering that members of the executive team were stealing from the factory. It was full of humor and ended with a powerful lesson.

The photo captures **Emily** delivering a Table Topics® response—one of our favorite meeting activities, where members practice thinking on their feet by giving impromptu speeches.

We had another great meeting this evening at Lexington Toastmasters! Every meeting is another opportunity to learn, challenge ourselves, and grow together.

Our theme for the night was "Command the Room."

Sooksai's speech, "15 Cents," shared a touching childhood memory and the lifelong lesson she has carried with her ever since. Donna's speech, "Leadership from Every Seat," reminded us that great leadership doesn't come from a title—it comes from our actions. Diana captivated us with a powerful speech and an unforgettable hook, reminding us of the qualities that make a truly great mentor.

During Table Topics, one of our guests bravely answered the question: How would you command the room without saying a single word when you walk into a room where you know no one? Keith shared his thoughts on whether a generous leader or a strict leader is more effective at commanding the room, and Qi spoke about how she would command the room if she were about to give the most important presentation of her life.

Another **full-house meeting** this week! 🎉 Even with a few members unable to attend, we had a packed room, welcomed two wonderful guests, and one even jumped right into Table Topics—talk about courage! 👏

You may notice there aren't many photos from this week's meeting... 😅 That's because our photographer got called up for a Table Topics question and then spent the rest of the evening laughing and giving some unofficial evaluations for the prepared speeches.

✨ **Best Table Topics:** Qi, who transported us to a romantic Italian vacation... with a group of people! 🇮🇹

✨ **Best Evaluator:** Donna, who stepped in at the last minute due to a mix-up on the sign-up sheet and delivered an outstanding impromptu evaluation. Amazing job!
