Last week, we proudly welcomed two new members to the club — Diana and Cassandra!

This week, we had three incredible speakers:

🌱 Diana delivered a heartfelt and inspiring speech sharing her personal story of hope — an emotional and powerful message that earned her Best Speaker of the night!

🌱 Donna gave an insightful speech on Goals vs. Tasks, reminding us of the importance of working with purpose and direction.

🌱 MJ took on a mock interview with Keith and showed how much he has grown by applying members’ feedback to strengthen his interview skills. In Toastmasters, as Dr. Chee (Lex Toastmaster, VP Education) often reminds us, evaluation is the breakfast of the day — and MJ demonstrated just how powerful feedback can be when put into action!

All three speakers did an amazing job and made this week’s meeting truly memorable! 👏

Ready to grow your confidence, communication, and leadership skills? Don’t wait until you feel “ready” — start now and grow with us!

Join us every Tuesday at 6:30 PM at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 2185 Garden Springs Dr, Lexington, KY 40504

The role of the Ah-Counter in a Toastmasters meeting is to track filler words such as “ah,” “um,” “and,” “so,” and “like.”

Each time a member uses one of these words, the Ah-Counter rings a bell, helping speakers become more aware of their speaking habits in real time.

At the end of the meeting, the Ah-Counter presents a report at the podium, summarizing the number of filler words used by each participant and providing valuable feedback to support their improvement.

A short clip from our meeting last week shows what can happen to every Ah-Counter at least once 😄—you get so engaged in the speech that your brain switches from “monitoring” mode to “listening” mode.

And honestly, a missed ding here and there isn’t a failure—it just means the speaker did a great job pulling you in. That’s kind of a win, too!
