For many local families, summer brings additional financial pressure. Childcare costs increase when school is out, utility bills rise with the warmer weather, and missed work to care for children can make budgets even harder to manage.

RARA helps neighbors stay stable during these difficult moments by providing emergency rent and utilities assistance alongside nutritious food.

Right now, every donation will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $10,000 through May 31st, doubling your impact for local families.

As the school year comes to a close, many local families face increased costs during the summer months. Children are home more, school meals are unavailable, and households already balancing high costs for food, housing, childcare, and healthcare often feel additional strain.

From now through May 31st, every donation to RARA will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $10,000 thanks to a generous, local matching gift.

Your support helps local families access nutritious food, housing support, and utilities assistance this summer.

UPDATE: We are out of dry cat food, but we still have dog food and wet cat food. We’ll be here until 5:30pm today!

We expect our parking lot to be busy during the elections tomorrow, so we are opening our Pet Food Pantry from 9:30am-5:30pm in order to spread out traffic. If you need pet food, you can come at any time and park on the side of the building by the big field. Ring the doorbell or call (540) 463-6943 when you get here! We will return to regular hours in May.

Tune in as a former RARA intern sits down with board member and produce-growing expert Jim Kvach for a great conversation!

What starts as a backyard garden can grow into something much bigger. In this episode of SHECP Talks 🎙️ — Jim Kvach talks to Washington and Lee University student Emily Scaff and shares how his small farm grew into a long-term commitment to supporting the Rockbridge Area Relief Association and expanding access to fresh, nutritious food. What began as personal farming has become a community effort rooted in one idea: neighbors helping neighbors. ❤️
