Last week, Society of Trauma Nurses representatives attended the 2026 National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) in Chicago to champion the Stop the Bleed initiative. Our team met with legislators, shared the importance of bleeding control education, and advocated for greater access to Stop the Bleed kits in public spaces, with the vision of making them as common as AEDs.

Thank you to everyone who represented STN and helped move this lifesaving initiative forward. Together, we can help ensure more people are prepared to act when every second matters.

Don't miss your chance! Join the STN Webinar: Frontline Readiness: Preparing Global Trauma Nurses for CBRNe Incidents

CBRNe threats pose profound challenges to healthcare systems—not only because they are difficult to detect, but also because the consequences of exposure are often uncertain, with contamination effects that may be delayed or unpredictable. These challenges are further compounded by the wide range of agents involved and the varying complexity of injuries they cause. As a result, CBRNe risks are typical of the so-called ‘dread’ risks – defined by lack of perceived control, catastrophic potential, and fatal consequences.
