Team case review is an essential part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT) response to child abuse. Since 2021, the number of children who received a multidisciplinary response has increased by 69%, allowing more children to benefit from coordinated support and shared expertise.

Multidisciplinary teams bring together professionals from many different disciplines including law enforcement, forensic interview, child protection, prosecution, mental health, medical and victim advocacy. The combined wisdom and knowledge of professionals from different disciplines results in a more complete understanding of case issues and the most effective child and family-focused system response.

Each of Kentucky's CACs specialize in providing a trauma-informed response allowing children to begin their healing journey.

When someone discloses sexual violence, the way we respond can shape whether they feel safe continuing the conversation or seeking support.

A survivor may already be carrying fear, shame, confusion, or uncertainty about how they’ll be received. Meeting that disclosure with compassion, belief, and patience can help reduce that burden.

You don’t need to have the perfect response. What matters most is creating space for them to be heard without judgment or pressure.

Listen. Believe. Let them lead.
