Michigan Dance Heritage Fall Dance Weekend

If you’re looking for information about 2026, there will be no Fall Dance Weekend. The final MDH Fall Dance Weekend was held in September 2025. Thank you to both the long-serving and the new members of the Steering Committee who facilitated so many wonderful weekends, to Camp Cavell for being a gracious host at a wonderful location, and to all the dancers who came out and shared their energy and camaraderie over all the years we gathered together for this marvelous weekend.

We are sad to announce that the Fall Dance Weekend for 2020 has been cancelled due to the continuing pandemic. Weekend #34 has been rescheduled for the 4th weekend of September 2021 (dates have been updated to Sept. 24-26, 2021). We encourage you, should you have the resources, to donate the money you would have spent on camp to support Camp Cavell. You can do so here: https://campcavell.org/donate/. Please select to donate to the Land Contract Reserve Fund to help the camp reach the amount needed for their Land Contract payment of $32K due October 30th, 2020. Your donation will ensure they are still around for our weekend, and able to provide all their wonderful summer programs for youth.

The rescheduled weekend will be wonderful weekend back together again, a weekend of contra, English, and couples dance, with featured calling by Carol Ormand, featured music by the Cranky Jig Lords (Sam Bartlett, Brad Battey, and Kendall Rogers), and dance, music, and crafts workshops. Renew some joyful fellowship with your fellow dancers on the shore of beautiful Lake Huron!

There is no need to register until spring or summer 2021. Cost will be announced next winter or spring (potentially there will be no change).

If you want to attend this wonderful camp for less money, there are three support tasks still available - two washing dishes (3 meals) and one snack coordinator or washing dishes. About 3 hours. You can come to camp for $95. Pre-approval required.

If you want to come to this wonderful camp for less money, we still have three support positions available - two dishwashing (3 meals to be assigned) and one either dishwashing or snack coordinator (one of two, somewhat experienced camper preferred). You will work roughly 3 hours, and get to come to camp for $95. Pre-approval required.
